  • Thanks so much for supporting Variety, Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada - West. We looking forward to attending this amazing event!

ONLY ONE WEEK LEFT until our Night in Venice gala, the grand finale of Italian Design Weeks! 🇮🇹🎨👜 We're transforming the Brian Jessel BMW showroom into a unique and immersive Venetian Masquerade Ball experience. This year, we have an AMAZING silent auction in support of Variety - The Children's Charity of BC . One lucky bidder is gonna walk away with the deal of a lifetime on an Air Canada premium economy return flight to Venice, hotel stay at the Radisson Collection Venice Palazzo Nani AND a Mediterranean cruise courtesy of our friends at Expedia Cruises False Creek and MSC Canada. If planes and boats aren't your thing, don't worry, there's plenty of other awesome items up for auction. Here's some hints: one of them sparkles and shines ( San Marco Jewellers ), one of them has really really comfy beds ( The Blackcomb Lodge ), and one of them goes really fast ( BrianJesselBMW ). If you want to know more, you'll just have to come to the gala next Friday! We've still got some seats available and two full tables, perfect for corporate groups. Award-winning Chef Vaishnav (Vish) Mayekar, renowned for his expertise in regional Italian cuisine, is busy working on a 5-course menu that will deliver an exceptional culinary experience to our guests. And of course, thanks to our Diamond Sponsor Lavazza Group we'll end the night with some of the finest, authentic Italian caffè you've ever tasted! For more info, visit https://lnkd.in/d4YTB3N9 or see the link in our Instagram bio. Don't forget your costume and mask! 🎭 #ItalianDesignWeeks #IDW2024 #VancouverEvents #BrianJesselBMW #ICCCW #ItalianDesignMap #LikeAnItalian

  • Thiago is six years old and always on the move; his favourite activity is spinning on swivel chairs or swings. The movement stabilizes his nervous system and gives him a sense of balance. Thiago has Down syndrome and autism, and his parents worry about his missed developmental milestones. They are doing everything they can for him, but the costs for specialized therapies have been overwhelming. Through a Variety grant, Thiago can now access vital support regularly. His communication and motor skills continue to improve, paving the way for his greater independence and confidence. But with rising costs, support for families is even more urgent. • Emilio loves sports, especially soccer, and playing video games. He’s a competitive, persevering, generous kid who has significant conductive hearing loss in his right ear. Due to this, he is a long-term right hearing aid user. Then he lost his hearing aid. This caused stress for Emilio’s parents, as replacements cost over four thousand dollars. Without this equipment, interacting with family and friends and participating in school was a challenge. Variety provided a new hearing aid, and his mom, Viviana, says the support was a light at that time. “After what we experienced with Emilio and the help we received from Variety, we decided that just as we had the opportunity to be helped, other people also deserved it, so we became donors,” she says. “That small part donated by one person becomes a lot when many of us get together and bring joy to others.”

  • Skylar is an active, goofy kid who loves puzzles or any toy she can take apart and figure out how to assemble. She’s also a fan of the animated preschool TV show Bluey (it was the theme of her recent birthday party). When Skylar was very young, she seemed to be developing at the same pace as other children her age, but then she stopped speaking for almost two years. She often didn’t respond when her parents tried to get her attention and they noticed repetitive movements, such as spinning or shaking her head. Skylar’s parents applied to Variety to fund an assessment, and she was diagnosed with autism and a global delay. Getting a formal diagnosis means Skylar is eligible for government funding toward occupational and speech/language therapy, opening up more opportunities for her to thrive. Chief Executive Officer, Variety - The Children’s Charity

It's Variety Week and we are truly honoured by the trust families place in us to share their powerful stories on Global BC. This week is all about amplifying their voices, advocating for change, and showing what’s possible when we come together to support children and youth with disabilities and complex health needs. A special thank you to the incredible team at Global News BC, who has been by Variety - The Children's Charity of BC’s side from the very beginning. Today, we were thrilled to invite Variety families on a behind the scenes tour at Global BC, giving them a glimpse of what goes into telling stories that matter. Watching the kids light up behind the anchor desk filled me with hope for the future. These children who’ve been supported by Variety are tomorrow’s change-makers, advocates, and champions of people of all abilities and backgrounds. These are our future leaders – kids who have broken down barriers and overcome obstacles from an early age, and they will shape a kinder more inclusive and equitable world for all of us. This week is a powerful reminder that, with the right support, every child can overcome challenges and reach their full potential. If you’re able, please consider giving. Donations will be matched, doubling your impact! Together, we can empower these amazing kids with the critical supports they need to thrive and achieve their unique potential.
