About us

Youth Climate Lab (YCL) is a Canada-based, global non-profit organization of youth mobilizing youth to create just, climate-resilient futures. We equip youth with skills, financial access and policy knowledge to take leadership in the climate movement. This work is realized through the design of innovative tools, programs, and spaces. Headquartered on the traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin nation (known as Ottawa, Canada), Youth Climate Lab was founded in May 2017 to support and strengthen the next generation of leaders to shake up the status quo of climate inaction. Since then, we’ve worked with 30+ partners around the globe to design and pilot projects that have reached thousands of young people in more than 77 countries.

We are so proud to be part of Climate Action Network Canada!

Executive Director, Climate Action Network Canada

A few days ago, the Alberta government called my colleagues and me a bunch of « eco-radicals » for our campaign to finally put a limit to oil and gas emissions - the largest and a growing source of pollution in our country. Danielle Smith and her cabinet are once again siding with billionaire corporations, and seem scared that our grassroots efforts in the fight against fossil-fuel caused climate change are working. I don't have a $7 million, taxpayer-funded budget for ads and fancy video production. But what I do have are some facts. My response👇🏻 #cdnpoli #abpoli Want to support our efforts to push back against fossil-fuelled politicians, and get your very own cap? 🧢 This way: https://lnkd.in/em-cZNrc

This reflection was written by a staff member of colour that was born and raised on Treaty 1 Territory. As settlers living, working, and playing in what is currently known as Canada, it is important for YCL to reflect on the places, relationships, and privileges we hold and encourage you to reflect on your own relationship with the land. Rooted in Community is happening in Winnipeg on Saturday, November 16th from 1:30-3:30pm CT. We are inviting Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) youth to join us at TakeHome BIPOC ArtHouse for a climate emotions workshop and letter writing blitz! 🌷 You can register for Rooted in Community through this link: https://bit.ly/3BApak9 🔗 We are grateful for support of Youth Harbour, The Climate Justice Organizing Hub and Climate Action MB to make this event possible! 🌱
