Throughout history, nature has not only nourished and sheltered us, but also allowed us to imagine something larger than ourselves. To some creative minds of the past, nature’s inspiration may have come in the shape of a timely apple falling from a branch; to others, as a panther silently stalking her shadowy forest realm. To future generations, it may present itself in ways we have not even discovered yet. It is up to all if us to make sure nature can continue to inspire humanity’s boldest, brightest, best ideas. Nature is for everyone. What ideas has #nature inspired in you?

It's Khulan Conservation Day! The Mongolian wild ass, locally known as khulan, is a nomadic species native to the grasslands of Central Asia. These hardy hoofers roam over tens of thousands of square kilometers annually, searching for essential resources and avoiding extreme natural events. Their movements are among the largest documented for terrestrial mammals on earth. In a rapidly developing world, #khulan increasingly find their movements restricted by roads, railways and fences. To raise awareness for their needs, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of #Mongolia has officially designated October 25 as an annual Khulan Conservation Day, following an initiative by our partner, Wildlife Conservation Society Mongolia. Please join us in celebrating this iconic species on its special day!

China's Three-River-Source National Park is one of the key strongholds of the rare #snowleopard. Since 2022, we have supported a programme to monitor and conserve these iconic cats and their mountain ecosystem in this park, in partnership with China Green Foundation. The programme supports local Tibetan herders to coexist with snow leopards by helping them reduce human-wildlife conflict. It also engages herders in research activities, training them to set up and maintain infrared camera traps in the mountains to capture wildlife images. Today, to mark #InternationalSnowLeopardDay, we are pleased to introduce you to some of these herder-conservationists (and the animals they help protect) in a new video. Living side by side with a large carnivore such as the snow leopard is challenging, especially for people who make a living by herding livestock - which makes their commitment to preserving their treasured homeland and its wildlife all the more inspiring. Today’s release of the WWF Living Planet Report provides a sobering picture of the state of nature. As the BBC News reports, it finds that wildlife populations across the world have declined by 73% over the last 50 years, mainly driven by the destruction or degradation of wild spaces. While the potential consequences of this widespread loss of nature are dire, the report also highlights that it is not too late for nature to recover. There are inspiring stories of wildlife comebacks and rejuvenated ecosystems in all parts of the world – our collective challenge now is to turn these stories into a global narrative, so that the next Living Planet Report may show nature on a path to recovery. Last week, our partner Fundación de Conservación Jocotoco in Ecuador celebrated its 25th birthday. Today, the organisation protects more than 100,000 acres of irreplaceable natural ecosystems across the country, ensuring a future for dozens of threatened plant and animal species. The video below provides a glimpse of the mesmerizing beauty of Ecuador's biodiversity and of Jocotoco's vital work to conserve it.
We’re celebrating 25 years of conservation! 25 years ago, Jocotoco started with a clear mission: to protect Ecuador’s most vulnerable and biodiverse ecosystems. Since then, we have tirelessly worked to preserve over 100,000 acres across the country’s four regions, from the coast to the high peaks of the Andes. This video is a tribute to everyone who has been part of this journey and those who believe in our mission. 🌿🦜 Thank you for joining us on this path and helping us build a more sustainable, thriving future for future generations. Here’s to many more years of conservation! Watch the complete video here🔗 https://lnkd.in/eZqA2kuj #Jocotoco25 #EcuadorConservation #Biodiversity

The current biodiversity crisis requires #conservation action that is effective and transformative. Yet many interventions to protect and restore nature still aren’t designed on the basis of scientific evidence, and many fail to fully deliver their intended outcomes. Conservation Evidence, an initiative based at the University of Cambridge, makes evidence on nature conservation easily and publicly accessible, so that practitioners around the world can make decisions based on the best available science and the learnings of others. To date, its team has reviewed and summarised around 9,000 studies on the effectiveness of almost 4,000 specific conservation actions for different groups of species and habitats. Cartier for Nature supports Conservation Evidence in its work to grow this unique resource to include reviews of the evidence for conservation actions across all habitats and species groups, and in engaging with practitioners, policy makers, funders and others to co-design tools and processes to ensure the evidence is embedded in practice.
