🌿 Rewilding in Action: A Path to Thriving Ecosystems 🌍 Rewilding is more than just conservation—it’s about restoring nature’s own ability to thrive. By bringing back key species and allowing natural processes to shape the land, we can help ecosystems recover, build resilience, and support biodiversity. At Saksfjed Wilderness, we're using rewilding as a method to create a richer and more diverse landscape. Wild Exmoor horses and Galloway oxen have been introduced to help shape the habitat, making space for a greater variety of plants, insects, and wildlife. But rewilding isn’t just happening in Denmark. Across the world, our biodiversity partners are working in some of the most important ecosystems to restore nature, reintroduce species, and protect biodiversity hotspots. From forests and wetlands to grasslands and rivers, these efforts show that when we give nature the space to recover, it flourishes. Happy World Rewilding Day 🌿 🐎💦 For more about our work on biodiversity: https://lnkd.in/dx9juDN6 Explore how we're using rewilding as a method at Saksfjed Wilderness to establish some of Denmark's most important new nature: https://thewilderness.dk/ #WorldRewildingDay #Rewilding #Biodiversity #Conservation #Saksfjed #Wilderness #NatureRestoration #HempelFoundation #AcceleratingChangeTogether #ACT Hempel A/S Rewilding Europe, Grazelands Rewilding (former Stichting Taurus), Global Rewilding Alliance, Thor Hjarsen, Jens Thorving Andersen, Adam Sahl Søderdahl, Frederik Josefsen

  • 𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆 🌿💚 As #WorldRewildingDay comes to a close (on our side of the globe), we’re revisiting a powerful message of unity and hope—one that remains as relevant today as ever. Created in collaboration with 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘛𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘺 for World Rewilding Day two years ago under the theme #RewildingHope, this message reminds us how rewilding offers hope for both today and the future. By joining forces and letting nature lead, we can ensure that nature and people flourish together. As we celebrate World Rewilding Day 2025 under the theme #RewildingTogether, let’s reflect on our shared commitment to a wilder, healthier world. #Rewilding is not just about today—it’s about every day, shaping tomorrow’s wild together. 🌍🌱💚 Join us in raising awareness of the benefits of wilder nature for wildlife, people, and the planet.

🌍🌿 Today is World Rewilding Day – a celebration of working together to restore our planet’s wild places! This stunning artwork by Jeroen Helmer captures the beauty and potential of rewilding. From grazing taurosses to pollinators, predators, and plants, rewilding is about restoring harmony in ecosystems and letting nature heal itself. This year’s theme, Rewilding Together, reminds us that rewilding is as much about people as it is about nature. Inclusivity is key: we need diverse perspectives and collaboration from every corner of the world to make this movement thrive. Rewilding strengthens communities, builds resilience, and inspires hope. Whether you bring back wild grazers, support wildlife corridors, or amplify marginalized voices in conservation, you’re contributing to a better future for all. 💡 What does rewilding mean to you? We invite you to share a symbolic photo that represents your vision of rewilding. Post it on Instagram using #rewildingtogether and tag @grazelandsrewilding. ✨ As a thank-you, the most inspiring three submissions will receive a Tauros calendar featuring breathtaking photography by Bert van Beek. Let’s rewild the world together—one photo, one action, one story at a time! Today, at #WorldRewildingDay, we would like to thank her wholeheartedly for her dedicated support, fantastic team spirit and lasting commitment to a wilder, more biodiverse Europe. 💚🌿🏡 🔹 “Wild nature is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. They say that nature finds a way, and it generally does. Yes, we are admittedly facing some huge conservation challenges in Europe and across the world. But more and more Europeans and global citizens are now standing up and giving the green agenda their passionate support. Nature is resilient – we just need to take a step back, change our values, and let it flourish once again. Nature is the best ally we have. And Rewilding Europe makes me hopeful.”  – Princess Laurentien van Oranje As nature works to its own rhythms, changing hearts and minds is a process, and restoring healthy, resilient ecosystems is a long-term journey. On #WorldRewildingDay, Cartier for Nature is thrilled to share that our partnership with Rewilding Europe is turning a new page. Since 2022, we have been supporting Rewilding Europe’s work in the Iberian Highlands (Spain) and Southern Carpathians (Romania) rewilding landscapes, where significant achievements have been made in bringing back large herbivores such as European bison, rewilded bovines and horses, including the endangered Przewalski’s horse, to fulfil their ecological roles and generate livelihood opportunities for local people. In the next phase of this successful partnership, we will continue to support the ongoing work of Fundación Española de Renaturalización - Rewilding Spain in the Iberian Highlands and Rewilding Romania in the Southern Carpathians, but the flexible nature of our new grant will allow Rewilding Europe to also allocate funds to other landscapes where they are needed most. “Beyond ecological restoration and climate change mitigation, the work of Rewilding Europe generates tangible benefits for local communities, such as new tourism-based businesses. We are proud to continue this partnership, which is built on mutual trust and shared values”, says Julien Semelin, Head of Environment Investments at Cartier for Nature. 🦌 Rewilding is more than restoring nature—it’s about finding ways to live alongside it. In the Ukrainian part of the Danube Delta, red and fallow deer are making a comeback, restoring biodiversity and reducing wildfire risk. But as they explore their recovering landscape, some have wandered into local gardens and orchards, creating new coexistence challenges. Rather than letting this become a source of conflict, the Rewilding Danube Delta team, with support from the Endangered Landscapes & Seascapes Programme and the Rewilding Europe European Wildlife Comeback Fund took action. Working alongside local residents, they provided protective fencing—helping to safeguard crops and gardens while ensuring that wildlife recovery remains a success for everyone. This World Rewilding Day, with the theme #RewildingTogether, we celebrate the practical solutions that make rewilding work—not just for nature, but for people too. 🔗https://lnkd.in/gbmqpDBY 📸Oleg Dyakov, Maxim Yakovlev, Rewilding Ukraine.

    • Community members unload rolls of protective fencing from a trailer in a rural setting. The fencing is being distributed to help residents safeguard their gardens from roaming wildlife as part of a coexistence initiative in the Danube Delta.
    • A group of fallow deer leap from a blue transport enclosure onto open grassland near a river in the Danube Delta. A person stands nearby, opening the enclosure to facilitate their release. A banner reading 'Rewilding' is visible on the structure.

  • 🌍 As we celebrate #WorldRewildingDay today, we recognise the growing momentum behind rewilding and the support that is so vital to make it happen. Rewilding isn’t just about protecting nature - it’s about bringing it back to life and creating benefits for both people and nature. But for nature to thrive, we need visionary partners who believe in its transformative potential. That’s why we are proud to partner with Arcadia, a charitable fund of Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin, whose funding has played a pivotal role in advancing rewilding across Europe. With their support, we are developing innovative rewilding models, strengthening wildlife comeback and coexistence, and expanding the European rewilding movement. Their commitment helps make rewilding more widely practiced, investable, and impactful. 🔹 “𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘢 𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘙𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘌𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘴. 🌿Rewilding is a shared mission that we can address in the Iberian Highlands thanks to the commitment of other organisations. And funding is key to bring rewilding from theory to the ground.   🌍 In the week we celebrate the #WorldRewildingDay (March 20), we want to highlight the committed support we have from our funding partner Cartier for Nature, a true example of how #RewildingTogether helps to take rewilding to the next level.   “We were drawn to rewilding because it is a proven, proactive approach to restoring nature while simultaneously creating new opportunities for people in rural areas. The work of Rewilding Spain in the Iberian Highlands perfectly illustrates this potential. In just a few years, they have protected old-growth forest and reintroduced wild horses, revitalizing the landscape. Beyond ecological restoration and climate change mitigation, these efforts are generating tangible benefits for local communities, such as new tourism-based businesses. We are proud to support this work, which benefits people and nature alike and brings hope and optimism to this beautiful corner of the world.” – Julien Semelin, Head of Environment Investment, Cartier for Nature.   💚 Big thanks to Cartier for Nature, not only for the economic side, but also for spreading the word, providing positive visibility, and making us feel all the time that we are part of a bigger and full of hope story. 📷 Juan Carlos Muñoz - Artenatural #WorldRewildingDay #RewildingTogether #HopeIntoAction #NatureForPeople #IberianHighlands #RuralDevelopment Mara Zamora Crespo Pablo Schapira Perez Matthias Fiechter Laurien Holtjer Rewilding Europe
