📣 As the G20 Brasil 2024 Health Ministers prepare to meet today in Rio, our new policy brief highlights the G20's unique opportunity to promote young people’s health and well-being by prioritizing #DigitalDeterminantsOfHealth and greater involvement of young people in digital health governance. To do so, it must overcome a siloed approach to health, education and digitalization and strengthen multisectoral investments in young people’s digital health futures, writes Louise Holly 👇

Day 2️⃣ of the Africa Youth in Digital Health Network (YiDHN) Workshop, held on the sidelines of the 2024 Africa HealthTech Summit - AHTS in Kigali, Rwanda, organized by Africa CDC and GIZ African Union #YoungPeople engaged in hands-on co-creation sessions with Key highlights that included: 🔷Co-creation of the YiDHN: Focusing on its objectives and core activities. 🔷Policy Work Session: Gathering youth insights on Health Data Governance. 🔷Roadmap Development: Developing the roadmap for the implementation of YiDHN. 🔷DTH-Lab Digital First Health Systems Workshop: Harnessing the insights and imagination of young people on the future design and governance of digital-first health systems, facilitated by our team members Lydia Jummai Gara and Enow A. G Stevens, MD, MPH. As the co-creation workshop concludes today, here are some key takeaways: ✨Strengthening Existing Networks🤝: More focus should be placed on enhancing current #DigitalHealth networks. ✨Empower Young Innovators💡: Young people are driving innovation in health, but they encounter significant funding challenges. It's essential to promote the creation of funding opportunities to support the testing of digital health solutions. ✨Trust in Decision-Making: Young people are often viewed as #DigitalHealth technicians, but it's important to include and trust them in decision-making roles in the digital health space. ✨Facilitate Youth Participation 🌍: Countries should ensure youth can participate in high-level events by providing visa access and covering costs to promote #YouthInclusion and enhance #YouthParticipation. ✨Streamline Regulations📜: Reduction of bureaucratic barriers to support youth innovation and investment. We extend our gratitude to Africa CDC and GIZ African Union and we are proud to have partnered alongside Young Experts: Tech for Health, Digital Health Africa and The Africa Digital Health Networks - ADHN to establish the African #YiDHN. We look forward to the official launch of the YiDHN during the Ministerial Breakfast and Plenary Session, which will focus on amplifying #YouthVoices in Africa’s digital health transformation at the Africa HealthTech Summit - AHTS. How can young people worldwide be encouraged to actively participate in decision-making for a sustainable, healthy, and resilient society? This critical question was the focus of the "Young Leaders for Healthy Societies: Building Well-being, Resilience, and Trust" international youth conference. Hosted by the WHO Youth Council 2024, and with support from the Bertelsmann Stiftung, World Health Organization, and World Health Summit. Inspired by the dedication of these young leaders from across the globe, we at the Bertelsmann Stiftung are eager to collaborate closely with them. Together, we aim to contribute to the creation of a more livable, healthy, and democratic society. Let's join forces to drive long-lasting positive change! #WHOYouthCouncil #Youth4HealthySocieties #MyHealthFutures Digital Transformations for Health Lab

✅ I highly recommend watching this 📺 video! From October 10-12, 2024, we had the incredible opportunity to host the WHO Youth Council at the Bertelsmann Stiftung's Berlin Office. The Council delegates were joined by the Digital Transformations for Health Lab #RegionalYouthChampions. In preparation for our joint conference, these inspiring young people crafted an exceptional #YouthDeclaration, which was unanimously adopted on October 12, 2024. Developed by 23 organizations, the Declaration outlines 👉 10 calls-to-action across 👉 3 priority areas, demanding collective action from governments, academia, the private sector, civil societies, and individuals. At the 🌐 World Health Summit, delegates had the privilege of presenting the Declaration to the World Health Organization Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and sharing it with a global audience. 🔎 You can read and endorse the Declaration here: https://lnkd.in/ew4u9jNV 👀 Or, watch the 📺 video to hear directly from the youth who are driving change: https://lnkd.in/ej7-8H76 🎁 This video is a heartfelt “thank you” to these remarkable young people who are committed to creating healthier societies. Let's take action together: ✅ Dedicate 5 minutes and 36 seconds to watch the video and be inspired. ✅ Endorse the Declaration as an individual or on behalf of your organization. ✅ Share the Declaration with three people from diverse backgrounds and geographies. 📆 In one year, we aim to see this Declaration brought to life through implementation, co-creation, and strong youth-led initiatives 🌍worldwide! #Youth4HealthySocieties Programm Gesundheit, Brigitte Mohn, Daniela Schwarzer, Carsten Schicker, Axel Radlach Pries, Ilona Kickbusch, Gaudenz Silberschmidt, Catharina Boehme, Paul Garwood, Aferdita Bytyqi, Götz "GG" Gottschalk, MBA, Sarah Montgomery-Taylor, Susan Thomas, Karen DeSalvo, Garth Graham, Tobias Silberzahn, Sophia Schlette, Klaus Hurrelmann, Dr. Tobias Lindner
