And that's a wrap. Thanks (and well done) to Yasmin Dufournet and Keme Nzerem for guiding everyone through a very busy and varied agenda. We covered a lot of ground together. Thanks also to the European Outdoor Group (EOG) and Media Contact Services (MCS) for doing the heavy lifting in organising the summit, to our host association Outdoor Industries Association (OIA) and amazing venue The Cambridge Union, to each and every speaker, and to all of the sponsors and partners who make it possible to put on the event. Last, but by no means least, we're grateful to the outdoor industry leaders from around Europe who joined us for the two days and were so engaged in the programme that we presented. European Outdoor Summit (EOS)
Weiterbildung und Coaching
The European Outdoor Summit (EOS) 2023 will take place on the 18-19th September 2024 in Cambridge, UK.
Info
The European Outdoor Summit (EOS) is now well established as one of the key dates on the outdoor industry calendar. Its development and success since 2014 have reflected and showcased the rapidly evolving business environment and wider changes in society. The content and conversations that we deliver through the summit are more relevant and valuable than ever. Each summit brings together around 300 senior executives and decision makers from across Europe and beyond, and this year, because much of the focus of discussion will be directed at the need to change corporate and operational strategies post pandemic, we are keen to encourage the involvement of CSR, sustainability and product managers to attend alongside this core audience. We invite brands, manufactuers, retailers, suppliers, distributors, media and service providers to join us for the 9th EOS in Berlin, Germany, for two days of learning, networking and shaping the future of the European outdoor industry. Besides extraordinary speakers, on-trend and current topics, the Summit is the ideal platform for networking and provides a unique opportunity to interact with opinion leaders from the outdoor industry.

The wide range of topics at this year's summit was showcased through the final two speakers this morning. Gustavo Meyer Suarez made the strong case that to manage risk effectively, firms need to embrace environmental, social, and governance (ESG) compliance planning, and consider it early when preparing any business strategy. Then 'professional tree hugger' Michelle Cliffe showcased the work of non-profit Canopy and the work that it does with brands around the world to find tailor-made solutions that transform supply chains, and help companies reach their sustainability goals, while taking the pressure off forests. Michelle also persuaded delegates to get their feet and practice their own tree hugs! #EOS2024

Our friends at EOCA European Outdoor Conservation Association convened a great panel discussion that explored the topic of putting nature at the heart of a business strategy. Thanks to EOCA President Julian Lings, Nick Barber of icebreaker and Simeon Rose of Faith In Nature for sharing some valuable insights and advice. #EOS2024

Summit delegates have just enjoyed a very entertaining presentation about AI and the need to rethink how they engage with it, courtesy of Tom Reding and his digital clone. Please note that this post was written by a real person...or was it? #EOS2024

Out first speaker on day two was Jennifer Howard-Grenville of the Cambridge Judge Business School, with a fascinating, and, for some delegates, very interactive, session on effective leadership during change and uncertainty. #EOS2024

We're underway on day two of this year's summit, after a great networking dinner last night. Our delegates continued the conversations that they started during the varied sessions on day one, and enjoyed some great food and drink. Thanks to OutDoor for sponsoring the event. We've worked through a very busy agenda today and it was great that our delegates stayed so engaged throughout. We rounded off with Nina Hajikhanian of Patagonia and Dani Jordan of Surfers Against Sewage, who reminded us of the importance and power of bold collaboration, which echoed a constant theme of this summit. And to continue the conversation, everyone has now moved on to our networking dinner. We will resume tomorrow! #EOS2024 #outdoors #outdoorindustry #collaboration

Thanks to the Opening Up The Outdoors and It's Great Out There Coalition team, our delegates have been able to enjoy walks and talks around Cambridge, discussing some of the issues facing people of the global majority who already engage with outdoor activities, or who want to do that. Thanks to Phil Young for leading the walks, which explored a beautiful city and facilitated a conversation about how to ensure that the outdoors is truly diverse, equitable, anti-racist and accessible to everyone. #EOS2024

One of the association's core areas of work is our market insights programme. During European Outdoor Summit (EOS), we took the opportunity to provide an update on the Outdoor Market Intelligence Service (OMIS) project. Richard Payne of our insights and data partner Sporting Insights explained how OMIS works and reported on its successful introduction to the UK, supported by the Outdoor Industries Association (OIA). We're now rolling it out in France with Outdoor Sports Valley - OSV, and in the DACH region with OUTTRA. Find out more about that at https://lnkd.in/eEYfZeVN. #EOS2024 #data #marketinsights

During an entertaining post-lunch race through 70 years of advertising and popular music, Mark Shayler conveyed some important messages about existential challenges, framed with optimism. He reminded each of us that our job is to move hearts and minds. Doing it with purpose is normal and making that purpose ‘good’ is the new cool in an age when we are all in the sustainability business. #EOS2024
