✨ Strengthening climate resilience in African agriculture! As the Focus-Africa Project draws to a close, we are proud to share our achievements in supporting #FoodSecurity across Africa, with a particular focus on Malawi and Tanzania. Through the innovative #TealTool, developed in collaboration with local meteorological services, smallholder farmers are now better equipped to predict and adapt to changing rain patterns. 🌱 The Teal Tool: The interactive software delivers district-level seasonal precipitation forecasts, enabling farmers to make informed decisions about crop selection and planting times. This is particularly crucial in regions where communities rely heavily upon rainfed agriculture. 🤝 A successful partnership amongst European and African institutions, including World Energy & Meteorology Council (WEMC), TMA, Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services, and Barcelona Supercomputing Center, working collaboratively to enhance climate resilience in agriculture. 🍃 The @PIISA Project believes that piloting and demonstrating is the key to engagement and continuous learning. The purpose is to develop innovative concepts, advanced products and services that aim to enable co-creation with stakeholders and potential users. The #PIISAPilot2, led by Sustainable Finance Observatory, focuses on #SoilStabilityRisks. More specifically, it addresses homeowners and the risks associated with clay soil shrinkage and swelling. The goal is to create an online dashboard that educates and empowers users to manage their financial risks effectively from gaps in insurance cover. The pilot started in French city Lyon, and aims to expand its efforts and broaden the scope to other EU countries. 💻 Curious to learn more ?
