And that’s a wrap! 🙌 Thank you for joining us at #KNIMEDataHop Boston. Here's a quick recap... Our morning started with two hands-on workshops, led by Scott Fincher and Kyle Watkins. We explored a fraud detection use case to generate custom alerts. (Advanced users even built and deployed an interactive data app.) • 🔐 Our CEO, Michael Berthold, opened by teaching on the balance between organizations wanting to apply GenAI (or now, agentic AI) vs. the ability and pressure to do it safely and securely. Workflows (and visual programming as THE programming language) for data science help provide consistency, governance, and flexibility within the enterprise. And make time for you to do cooler stuff, too! • 🧪 Brittany Smith, investigator at GSK, shared how her team streamlined the design of DNA-encoded libraries. Early drug discovery programs often involve testing millions of chemical compound libraries — but KNIME Analytics Platform helps chemists design, analyze, and visualize large sets of compounds. • 🔍 “Say no to stale data!” Shiva K., Director of Clinical Analytics at Sumitomo Pharma America, Inc., presented on the amount of time their team saved – cutting down DAYS off their analysis process – when using KNIME to help manage clinical trial data. (And how their Japan-based company honors the concept of kintsugi…finding the beauty of repairing broken things.) • 👥 How do you take thousands of rows of talent recruiting data and turn it into the best candidate for your company? How do you help people-first teams like HR be data-empowered? Christopher Cerasoli, Senior Associate Director of People Analytics at Boehringer Ingelheim, discussed how he used KNIME to maximize scalability and business impact in people analytics. (And the most important lesson? 🍞 Don’t be a “smart toaster” — simplicity is powerful.) • 🤖 Kenneth Longo, Head of Data Science at Wave Life Sciences, presented on how his team used LLMs and RAG with KNIME for biopharmaceutical applications…like building a biomedical chatbot based on PubMed. Kenneth also received a KNIME KNinja Community Award for his work in empowering his company and the data science community. Congratulations, Kenneth! 🏆 • 🎤 In our panel session, we dug into using KNIME for research and how the software streamlines data management, enhances collaboration, and improves research outcomes. (And increasing data science accessibility. They've even seen historians and scientists, who are not computer scientists by trade, now able to achieve data science tasks with speed and diversity.) Featuring Wendy Guan (Harvard University), Cheng Fang (Blueprint Medicines), Giovanni Cianchetta (Recludix Pharma), and Michael Berthold (KNIME), hosted by Sasha Rezvina. • 🩺 Our KNIME booth and Workflow doctors were also available during our breaks to help attendees workshop and tweak workflows one-on-one.
