We are an independent foundation addressing the defining challenges of our time: climate change, nature loss and social inequality. We are driven by the belief that business, when guided by values, rules and incentives, can be powerful agents for positive change. Our approach combines the catalytic power of philanthropy to work with and through business and industry to advance system change. We work collaboratively alongside a wider network of philanthropic organisations, to both influence finance and capital markets and drive equitable industry transitions within the built environment, fashion and food sectors.

  • Did you know the food industry is responsible for a staggering 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions, and food waste alone accounts for 8% of these? Our Food programme supports the building and scaling of circular approaches and business models that can address food waste. The food industry must take the lead in addressing this crisis, and it has never been more important to incentivise food retailers, wholesalers, and food service companies to shift consumption patterns and minimise waste. ♻️ A strong example is ReLondon, a partnership with the Mayor of London and London’s local authorities, who work collaboratively with actors across London’s food supply chain to develop city-level solutions such as food re-distribution to reduce food waste – a powerful indicator of the pivotal role of cities in driving circular innovations. Learn more about Laudes Foundation’s food programme and reach out if you would like to collaborate on city-level solutions to mitigate food waste: https://lnkd.in/ecfSV55C #FoodWasteActionWeek #FoodSystemsChange #Circularity

MIPIM is happening in Cannes, France! Ahead of the sessions on the Road to Zero stage, we asked industry leaders what we can expect to hear about sustainable finance. Listen to what Julie Emmrich (WorldGBC), Roland Hunziker (WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development) and James Hooton (Green Finance Initiative) have to say in the video below. Green finance regulations are quickly expanding, and over 50 green EU taxonomies are already in place or being developed. Did you know about the hidden power in your pension? A new rezonanz study we commissioned shows how European pension funds use "proxy voting" rights to drive sustainability.    Interestingly, Dutch and Swedish funds lead in supporting environmental and social measures, while UK and German funds show room for improvement.    The best performing funds set clear ✅ climate targets, ✅ accountability mechanisms and ✅ human rights standards for companies they invest in.  Remember, your pension isn't just building your future - it's shaping our planet.     Read our take on the report here: https://lnkd.in/eb_T8ddt #ProxyVoting #ESG #SustainableFinance

💡 What does a just transition look like in practice? The concept of a just transition is gaining momentum—but what does it mean for the people and communities at the heart of industry transformation? A just transition should foster inclusion, agency, and accountability for those most affected. But how do we bring these principles to life? Our partner, Institute for Human Rights and Business, recently launched the JUST Stories database, a first-of-its-kind, practical resource for business, government and civil society, to showcase real-world examples of just transitions in action. Through powerful storytelling, the platform highlights the breadth of action, diversity of actors and most innovative and impactful partnerships and thinking that are driving change—for practitioners to learn from when designing for climate action. The launch story takes us to Collie, Western Australia, a century-old mining town whose community was built around coal production. When the government announced plans to phase out coal-fired power by 2029, the community faced an uncertain future. But workers, businesses, the government, and local leaders came together to co-create a transition plan for a future without fossil fuels. The JUST Stories team visited Collie to hear firsthand what worked, what didn’t, and how this experience could inspire other coal communities worldwide. Read, watch, or listen to Collie’s powerful story. Link in the comments below 👇 #JustTransition #Sustainability #EnergyTransition

  • “If we don’t get this right, we won’t solve the climate crisis”. At the Sustainable Construction Talk, hosted by Saint-Gobain's Sustainable Construction Observatory in Davos earlier this year, our CEO Leslie Johnston, M.Sc., highlighted the pivotal role the built environment plays in achieving the planet's sustainability goals—and the necessity of inclusivity along the way. With the built environment accounting for 40% of global carbon emissions, how can sustainable construction drive progress on equity and inclusion? Tune in to the full soundbite to hear why Laudes Foundation is focused on catalysing the transition to an inclusive, climate- and nature-positive built environment: https://lnkd.in/eYFhCbd4 #BuiltEnvironments #SustainableConstruction #ESG

  • By 2030, the fashion industry must start to adopt circular materials and meet global climate goals.    A significant enabler in this transition will be the effective collection and recovery of textile waste such that it closes the circularity gap to eventually finds its way back into the fashion supply chain.    Tremendous efforts are underway in textile hubs like India that present a strategic opportunity to model what an inclusive circular textiles economy looks like, especially with India being home to the full spectrum of the fashion supply chain and a budding waste management enterprise landscape.     Read our latest story linked in the comments 👇    #circularfashion, #justtransition #sustainablesupplychains
