🌍 Resource Scarcity is Driving Transformative Business Strategies 🚀 The St. Gallen Symposium, in collaboration with the Nuremberg Institute for Market Decisions, has released the "Voices of the Leaders of Tomorrow 2024" report. This report, themed #ConfrontingScarcity, gathers insights from over 650 Leaders of Tomorrow and 250 senior executives. It explores consensus areas, divergent opinions, and potential intergenerational collaboration based on leaders’ perceptions of the corporate, consumer, and political landscapes. 🔎 A key contrast in expectations toward businesses emerged, with 88% of Leaders of Tomorrow vs. 90% of senior executives believing businesses should address natural resource scarcity. However, only 22% of Leaders of Tomorrow and 24% of senior executives feel companies are currently making substantial efforts. Both generations recognise that dwindling resources are disrupting the "business-as-usual" mentality, pushing companies towards more sustainable operations. With 72% of young and 69% of senior leaders seeing this as a driver for sustainable business transformation, there's a shared view of the silver lining in this challenge. 🌟 Jessica Jones, a Sustainability Manager from Switzerland, emphasises: "Businesses need to take responsibility to make a sustainable business case, and if they realise they don’t have one, they need to review their strategy." 🌱

The St. Gallen Symposium congratulates Leon Schreiber for assuming his new role as Minister of Home Affairs of South Africa. Leon is a valued member of our #LeadersOfTomorrow community. In 2015, during his doctoral studies at Freie Universität Berlin, he won the 2nd place of the #GlobalEssayCompetition with his essay on a universal basic income and attended the 45th St. Gallen Symposium. At 35 years old, Leon is one of the youngest cabinet members, exemplifying the symposium's vision of empowering the next generation. We wish him the best of luck in shaping South Africa's future.
