The Paris Agreement is a landmark in the multilateral climate change process because, for the first time, a binding agreement brings all nations together to combat climate change and adapt to its effects. It was adopted by 196 Parties at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris, France, on 12 December 2015. It entered into force on 4 November 2016. To limit global warming to 1.5° C, which is the critical goal of the Paris Agreement, the world must implement climate change mitigation actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 45 percent before 2030 and reach net-zero by mid-century. 📢 Key Update from the International Monetary Fund & The World Bank Group Annual Meetings The Finance Ministries' Engagement with Private Sector on NDCs roundtable explored actionable pathways for Finance Ministries to lead sectoral and programmatic engagement with private sector stakeholders in developing and implementing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). This engagement is supported by the NDC Partnership and the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action. The discussions built on insights from the High-Level Roundtable: Private Sector Engagement for NDCs 3.0, co-hosted by the NDC Partnership and the UN Global Compact during NY Climate Week in September 2024. These dialogues will shape the NDC Partnership and CFMCA's ongoing work, inform COP29 deliberations, and contribute to a comprehensive work plan for enhancing private sector participation in the NDC processes. 𝗣𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗞𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗸𝗵𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 🇰🇿 #Kazakhstan joined officially the partnership in 2018. Since 2019, PAGE has carried out analytical work in best available technology, carbon tariffs, and fiscal reform, the social-economy impact of coal phaseout, and more. During the event, members of the government, representatives of  international organisations, UN agencies state bodies and business leaders reviewed the progress made in the past years and discussed future opportunities. Key realizations included the development and adoption of Kazakhstan’s Environmental Code, Carbon Neutrality Strategy, and Green Economy Concept.
