Wenn Väter und Mütter gute Rahmenbedingungen vorfinden, floriert die Wirtschaft. Viele Firmen wie z. B. Advance-Mitglied AstraZeneca warten deshalb nicht auf die Politik, sondern machen vor, wie es geht. Der Tages-Anzeiger von Tamedia hat das Thema aufgegriffen. Darin erzählt Diederik Eijsvogel von seinen Erfahrungen im 16-wöchigen Vaterschaftsurlaub – nein, es waren keine Ferien. 👨🍼Eijsvogel war der erste Mann in der Geschäftsleitung, der den Urlaub bezog. Im Rückblick sagt er: «Meine Erfahrung war super. Ich war stärker involviert im Familienleben. Und ich weiss, was es heisst, zu Hause für die Kinder zu schauen. Es half meiner Frau bei der Rückkehr in ihr Arbeitsleben – und beschleunigte sie wohl auch.» 👏 Er fügt hinzu: «Die Elternzeit machte mich gelassener.» 👉Lest unbedingt den ganzen Beitrag u. a. auch mit O-Ton von Advance Präsidentin Anna Mattsson und Katrin Lipp, Personalchefin von AstraZeneca. 👉 Reconciling work and childcare is a “piece of cake”. Or, it could be if we had structures in place that make working parents’ lives easier. 💡 The City of Zurich will transform all schools from kindergarten to secondary level into day schools offering lunch and afternoon/early evening childcare by 2030. Thirty schools have already transitioned as part of a pilot project. 🏆 21% of the surveyed parents of day school children at Zurich’s pilot schools have already increased their work percentages by one more day on average or are planning to do so. Better childcare structures for the win! 🚩 Creating an environment where women can thrive professionally and personally would benefit Swiss society in multiple ways: Women’s participation in the labor force and leadership alongside men boosts economic growth, tax incomes, and organizational performance. Plus, it would help reduce the labor shortage in Switzerland. So, is the solution to balancing work and childcare at our fingertips?
