⭐Exciting News! We are trialing a first-of-its-kind paper tub for Quality Street in the UK this holiday season! 🎄 Packaging experts from Nestlé’s R&D center for confectionery in York, England, designed the eye-catching and recyclable paper tub. They developed a highly functional design with an integrated re-close feature, which allows the tub to be securely closed once opened. Rigorous testing was completed to ensure that the new paper tub guarantees the quality and freshness of the sweets during transportation and storage. During this trial, the popularity of these tubs with shoppers will be evaluated, allowing us to continue the journey of improving packaging sustainability. This trial is part of our efforts to reduce the use of virgin plastic across our portfolio. In 2022, we also introduced recyclable paper packaging for 9 out of the 11 Quality Street sweets. ➡️Read more about the recyclable paper tubs: https://lnkd.in/eas8__zF ➡️Read more about the recyclable paper wrappers: https://lnkd.in/e_rBiiKF #NestléRD #NestléInnovates #QualityStreet #SustainablePackaging

On World Food Day, we’re underscoring our commitment to developing affordable, tasty and nutritious products. Many people around the world struggle to meet their recommended nutritional, and specifically their micronutrient needs. In Pakistan, for example, only 3% of children consume recommended amounts of nutrient-dense dairy products and over 80% are lacking essential micronutrients such as iron, calcium or Vitamin A in their diets.  Now, our research experts in collaboration with external partners have shown in a new study that drinking up to 2 additional servings of a fortified milk beverage per day can improve iron intake by 94% for children in Pakistan. It also could help reduce nutrient inadequacies for vitamin A, vitamin C, thiamin, riboflavin and vitamin B6. To help close the nutrient gaps that exist for local children in Pakistan, in 2022, we launched BUNYAD IRON+, an affordable dairy-based drink. It is fortified with a new source of iron that is more suitable for dairy products, as well as three times more absorbed in the body when compared to existing available sources. This innovation is part of our efforts to address affordable nutrition by providing safe and high-quality products to meet dietary needs and taste preferences around the world. Communicating with our pets is essential to their overall health and wellbeing. Whether they bark, wag their tail, tilt their head or give puppy eyes, pets say so much without using any words.     We’re excited to announce a new research partnership with the University of California San Diego that includes a grant to study how pets can better communicate their wants, needs and thoughts. The study, which is carried out primarily in the home between pets and their owners, utilizes soundboards with buttons that play recordings such as “outside,” “play,” “walk,” or “potty” when pressed.     Sheri Smithey, Senior Vice President of Nestlé’s Global PetCare Research & Development: “The work we do with academic institutions provides valuable scientific insight into our pets and the people who love them. This research collaboration will enable us to leverage behavioral science and novel communication tools to better understand the needs of pets. We bring those insights to life through innovations that improve the holistic wellbeing of pets and nurture the bond we as humans share with them.”      This latest study follows the recent collaboration between Purina and the University of California, Davis, to advance scientific understanding of urinary conditions in dogs and cats while providing exceptional care for patients experiencing urinary disease. Through partnerships like these, Nestlé is ensuring its commitment to delivering science-based nutritional solutions for pets that help them thrive.      Read more about our collaboration with UCSD:  https://lnkd.in/ezKe5p8g    Read more about our collaboration with UC Davis: https://lnkd.in/e_YnRS3q

Nestlé is expanding its culinary offering with new high protein products across key geographies – from solutions designed to meet specific nutritional needs to innovations in its core brands.   In the US, we recently introduced high protein foods to support GLP-1 users and consumers focused on weight management under the new Vital Pursuit brand. One example is the Vermont White Cheddar Mac & Broccoli Bowl, a high-protein pasta dish that incorporates pea protein into the pasta without compromising on taste and texture. In India, Nestlé has launched Maggi Nutri-licious Chatpata Besan Noodles that are rich in protein and fiber. The innovative offering for the first time incorporates locally sourced chickpea flour, popularly known as “Besan”, as a base ingredient in the noodles.   Adequate protein intake is an important part of a balanced diet and people often have different protein needs depending on factors like life stage and food preferences. That’s why Nestlé is actively developing new products that incorporate more protein, as well as exploring affordable options that help close the protein gap that exists for many people around the world.
