We are honored to have Ralf Brandstätter test drive the Horizon SuperDrive™ all-scenario #smartdriving solution. The test drive took place during evening rush hour. The complex city traffic and unexpected rainy weather turned the experience into a challenge. However, SuperDrive performed like a seasoned driver - smooth and efficient - completing the 50-minute test drive with zero interventions. It managed to navigate through extreme scenarios such as city roundabouts, complex construction zone detours, congested ramp merges, and tricky intersections with excellent speed, precision, and stability. This year also marks the 40th anniversary of Volkswagen Group's entry into China. As a deep cooperation partner of Volkswagen's “In China, For China” strategy, CARIAD and Horizon's joint venture CARIZON are accelerating the development of full-stack smart driving solutions. We look forward to providing safer, more convenient and enjoyable travel experiences to consumers in China and around the world!
It's always a journey of discovery to go for test drive together with Horizon Robotics CEO Kai Yu in one of our ID. test cars. We experienced first-hand some latest smart driving functions, also called Navigation on Autopilot (NoA). We put ourselves up for challenge under exciting conditions: one of the busiest urban neighborhoods in rush hour Beijing, on a raining Friday afternoon! The experience was amazing. No human take-over throughout the entire journey! Impressed to see how much progress the smart drive solution can evolve in terms of preciseness ever since our partnership began less than 2 years ago. In many road scenarios, you barely can tell as a passenger whether the car is controlled by a human driver or is navigated by a computing system. This gives me another confidence boost to a future of automated driving! This is exactly what CARIZON, our strong tech Joint Venture inspired by CARIAD and Horizon Robotics, is heavily making contributions to. We are accelerating the development of a full-stack software solution, focused on highly automated driving functions that fulfills Chinese customer requirements. Following Volkswagen Group‘s “in #China for China” approach. Three keywords to summarize our efforts in creating smart driving experience: ✅Safe. A local solution that assists drivers to avoid potential danger in complicated traffic environment is always a priority. 📱Upgradable. A system that is capable of instant feedback processing and OTA updates. So we can upgrade the system with a scalable base and add new features for the future. 💰Affordable. We want our customers to enjoy their desired smart driving experience within an affordable cost range, especially in a price sensitive market! You can already find our products equipped with the next generation of ADAS technology on testing mode on many authorized pilot roads in Chinese cities as we speak. I am very confident that we will soon see this technology in our products in China. Stay tuned!

In China, there are more than 17 million visually impaired people. Such a large population has caught the attention of employees at Horizon Robotics. On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (#IDPD), a team of Horizon's R&D colleagues introduced ManGo to us, a mini-guide robot demo invented for this group, hoping to provide more care for them. In addition to daily work, it is a tradition for Horizon employees to do some small inventions and innovations based on company's automated driving solutions and technological strength. These internal creations demonstrate their creative minds and people-oriented values. In order to provide more user-friendly functions of ManGo demo, our colleagues also paid a visit to a blind friend in their spare time to learn about his lifestyle and daily needs. Knowing the limitations of current guide sticks and other tools on the market, as well as the difficulties of obtaining a guide dog, they designed the ManGo demo as a smart guide robot-dog with functions including navigation, obstacle avoidance and voice interaction. We are very pleased to see that our colleagues at Horizon spend their spare time designing a variety of small household inventions for people with disabilities. We also look forward to the mass production of these little helpers in the future, bringing people a safer, better, and more convenient life.

Welcome back to Horizon Academy's sharing session — #FutureInMe. Today, we can't wait to introduce two more colleagues who said they were destined to be part of the Horizon team. They found their passion before joining Horizon, and gladly, they continue to pursue their dreams and achieve greater success here. Ruiying describes herself as an somewhat introverted person with passionate interests. Throughout her college years, she displayed a keen interest in the area of education and public welfare. She even founded an animation production firm specifically focused on children's education. In line with Horizon's people-oriented values, she and her colleagues found that many Chinese students are interested in computer programming but do not have adequate assistance and equipments. After a period of field developing and testing, her team launched the Horizon Developer University Program (DUP), a groundbreaking initiative aimed at nurturing and cultivating the innovative talent of tomorrow through a diverse range of activities, including curriculum development, scientific research collaboration, and internship and career opportunities. Xinkuan's adventure with Horizon began as an internship, with his childhood dream of computer programming to accomplish useful and interesting projects. After graduating, he immediately joined Horizon to provide support on mass-production projects for OEMs. "Making human life safer and better through my own interests and efforts is my life long aspiration, and also the mission of our company. I am confident that we will keep pushing the envelope and bring more innnovative smart vehicles to Chinese consumers." These are just a handful of our colleagues' stories. With a shared passion and clear sense of purpose, we are commited to making people's time spent on the road safer, productive and enjoyable.

Recently, we initiated an internal sharing program with the theme of #FutureInMe. Alumni from our Horizon Academy program were invited to share their experiences in Horizon Robotics with our new colleagues. Below are some of their stories. The development of Horizon Robotics is tied closely to the continuous innovation of our colleagues. Xue, an engineer and a key member of our R&D team, participated in the development of Horizon's first automotive grade computing solution - Journey™ 2. Overcoming multiple technical challenges, her team successfully deployed Journey™ 2 in mass-produced vehicles. "Seeing the solutions we work on actually being used in cars on the road is deeply satisfying," she said, "As cars become people's third living space, I hope to help make our daily commute more convenient and comfortable." With a shared mission to make human life safer and better, our colleagues reach their own goals and grow together with Horizon. Zixi participated in the preparation for the launch event of the Horizon Journey™ 5 computing solution during her internship. After her graduation the following year, she didn't hesitate to accept a job with Horizon. "Horizon gave me the opportunity to explore and grow even as an intern. I like working with colleagues from different departments, which allows me to face challenges with a positive mindset every day." Everyone here have their unforgettable memories, and it is our honor to witness these like-minded individuals growing together with Horizon. In the next sharing event, we will share more of their stories. Please stay tuned!
