At the 19th Asia Bond Markets Summit - Middle East Edition, organised by The Asset in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and New Development Bank (NDB), NDB's Alexey Akulov participated in a panel on ESG and capital markets. He discussed the increasing focus on sustainability among public and private sector partners to achieve #NetZero commitments, emphasising the crucial role of capital markets in this transition. He also highlighted how ESG-linked bonds are boosting global investor interest in capital markets.

Monale Ratsoma, NDB's Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, delivered the keynote address at the recently concluded 2024 Bund Summit in Shanghai. He highlighted the urgent need to bridge the infrastructure investment gap in emerging markets and developing countries, focusing on three key areas: ➡ the impact of this gap on economic and social development in #EMDCs, ➡ the necessity for innovative financing solutions for infrastructure projects, including sustainability-linked loans and bonds, blended finance, local currency financing, and more, ➡ the essential role of Multilateral Development Banks like NDB as key sources of long-term financing and partners for the private sector in tackling infrastructure challenges in developing countries. #infrastructurefinancing #sustainabledevelopment

NDB approves a USD 150 million loan (equivalent in RMB) to the Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. (BCFL) for an LNG Transportation Project. The funding will help BCFL acquire at least three LNG carriers, addressing the growing demand for liquefied natural gas in China and enhancing carrier capacity. By facilitating LNG imports, the project will help reduce China's coal consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with its "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development". The project aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly #SDG7 on affordable and sustainable energy and #SDG13 on #climateaction. Read press release: https://lnkd.in/g-4kuRGK

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” Reflecting on my recent experience volunteering at the 9th Annual NDB Meeting (New Development Bank (NDB). The theme of the meeting: “Investing in a sustainable future”, Where global leaders gather to discuss and share insights valuable to our global economy. I am reminded of just how powerful hands-on involvement can be for personal and professional growth. It was a truly world-class experience that expanded my horizons in unexpected ways. Key Takeaways: 📍Diversity in Action: I was challenged to navigate a vibrant, diverse organization that put my interpersonal skills to the test. The experience taught me the true value of collaboration, even beyond language barriers. 📍Staying Focused Amid Chaos: I learned to remain calm and focused in the midst of conflict and confusion, sharpening my social awareness in a fast-paced corporate environment. 📍Building Connections: Meeting like-minded individuals and forging new relationships was not only inspiring but humbling. These interactions reminded me of the importance of connecting authentically and collaborating toward common goals. I had the unique opportunity to volunteer as a liaison officer for the President of the NDB for the first half of the week and later coordinate efforts for the language services team, ensuring interpreters were ready to bridge communication gaps seamlessly. A heartfelt thank you to the Events Team for believing in me, valuing my perspective, and creating an environment where I could truly thrive. Here’s a look back at #NDBAM24! NDB wrapped up the 9th Annual Meeting of its Board of Governors in Cape Town, South Africa. With over 500 delegates including leaders, decision-makers, business professionals, experts and civil society members, the event focused on promoting investments for a sustainable future. Over the course of three days, delegates engaged in a series of discussions aimed at developing strategies for a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable future in emerging markets and developing countries. We were honoured to welcome the Deputy President of South Africa, H.E Paul Mashatile at the #NDBAnnualMeeting.

Very productive meeting with fellow Heads of Multilateral Development Banks, led by Inter-American Development Bank President Ilan Goldfajn. We are improving the way we work together as a system, increasing our efficiency and impact on the ground to support growth and prosperity, financial stability and climate action.

[New Development Bank High-Level Energy Seminar] The High-Level Energy Seminar under the auspices of the BRICS 9th Annual New Development Bank (NDB) Ministers Meeting is taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), Cape Town, South Africa. Under the theme: “Securing South Africa’s Future” the Energy Seminar’s primary objectives are to draw insights from the experiences of #BRICS Member States and New Development Bank’s (NDB) new member countries, namely, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Arab Republic of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, to identify opportunities for collaboration. By bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders, including Senior Government Officials, energy experts, academics and BRICS Representatives, the seminar seeks to foster knowledge exchange, critical dialogue and collaborative problem-solving, which would generate pragmatic and implementable solutions. Excited to Share My Volunteering Experience at the NDB 2024 Annual Meeting! I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at the 9th Annual Meeting of the New Development Bank (NDB) in Cape Town, South Africa. The event, focused on "Investing in a Sustainable Future," brought together global leaders to discuss and promote sustainable development initiatives. As a volunteer, I was involved in various roles, including assisting with registration and guest services This experience allowed me to network with professionals passionate about sustainability, learn more about global strategies for sustainable development, and contribute to an event that is making a real difference. I am grateful for the opportunity to support an event that aligns with my values and interests in sustainability and global development.
