关于我们
Founded in 2016 by Dr Charles CHEN Yidan, the Yidan Prize Foundation has a mission of creating a better world through education. Through its prize and network of innovators, the Yidan Prize Foundation supports ideas and practices in education — specifically, ones with the power to positively change lives, systems, and society. The Yidan Prize is an inclusive education award that recognizes individuals, or up to three-member teams, who have contributed significantly to education research and education development. It consists of two awards, the Yidan Prize for Education Research and the Yidan Prize for Education Development. Yidan Prize laureates receive a gold medal, a cash prize of HK $15 million (shared equally for teams), and a project fund of HK $15 million to help them scale up their work.

Every child has a fundamental right to quality education. But in times of global crisis, the educational needs of marginalized children are often neglected. Our 2024 Education Development laureates — Mark Jordans, Marwa Zahr, and Luke Stannard — represent the team behind ‘Can’t Wait to Learn’, an intervention seeking to close that gap across eight countries. Through digital technology and culturally relevant content, children can learn to read and count at their own pace. We recently sat down with the team to learn more about the intervention and how they ensure its long-term sustainability. Our two annual prizes work in tandem to take education to the next level. The Yidan Prize for Education Research supports work that delves into the research and testing of learning — the theories that shape what educators do and how students absorb information. Meanwhile, you can think of the Yidan Prize for Education Development as the practical application of learning. How can school systems best meet the critical needs of the next generation of students? By spotlighting and supporting laureates in both areas to scale their work, we encourage the world to embrace bold ideas and champion solutions that shape the future of learning. Stay tuned as we get ready to introduce our 2024 laureates! #YidanPrize

Every year, our independent Judging Committee selects laureates they believe are making — and can continue to make — a difference in education. That means their work should be: • Future-oriented: solutions that address the most critical challenges facing education in today’s world. • Innovative: creative, ground-breaking ideas that can shape society for the better. • Transformative: examples that influence the global education community – and reshaping our current systems. • Sustainable: projects that show consistent growth and accountability, which are essential to evaluating its long-term potential. Don’t miss it when we announce our 2024 laureates on 26 Sep — you’ll learn how they demonstrate the four judging criteria. #YidanPrize
