Yesterday we had our first #NextGen Frankfurt Day and gathered with the cohort to connect, learn, and gain insights from leaders across different industries within the Rhein-Main region. We kicked off with an engaging discussion at the U.S. Consulate General Frankfurt. It was our pleasure to engage with U.S. Consul General Brian Heath, who shared valuable insights on diplomacy, economic ties, and the importance of fostering transatlantic collaboration—and highlighted the essential role young leaders play in bringing these principles to life. At Procter & Gamble Deutschland's Kronberg Innovation Center, together with AmCham Germany Regional Committee Co-Chair Gabriele Haessig, we heard about P&G’s mission in the DACH region, we learned about their customer centric approach, and gained an inside look at cutting-edge advancements in the Powered Devices Labs thanks to Robert Damaschke, one of our current NextGen Program participants. The day also included a meaningful discussion on the power of intergenerational collaboration and its potential to drive leadership forward. We explored how fostering leadership within teams—grounded in mutual trust and respect—can make the workplace more adaptable and innovative and strengthen a company’s impact and results. As part of this panel we were thrilled to have Megan Deardorff as member of the NextGen Steering Committee and Thomas Henneberg representing AmCham Germany. Our day concluded with an engaging Fireside Chat featuring Deutsche Bank’s experts such as Gerlinde Siebert, Markus H.-P. Müller and Kristian Snellman and moderated by NextGen Alumna Shelley Cantrick. They shared perspectives on sustainability, governance, and strategic transformation in the banking industry and future-oriented topics, setting the stage for an insightful Q&A session. We wrapped up with a networking reception, exchanging ideas, building connections, and strengthening the NextGen community. We are grateful to our hosts, our speakers, and all our participants for their support and contributions in making this day a resounding success!

"Before the U.S. Election: What's Ahead for the Economy?" 🏭 At a dynamic event hosted yesterday by the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, experts gathered to discuss the potential economic impact of the upcoming U.S. election, both for the U.S. and Germany. Simone Menne, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany, participated in a panel alongside Andreas Audretsch (Member of the Bundestag, Greens), Rüdiger Bachmann (University of Notre Dame) and Heike Buchter (DIE ZEIT). During the discussion moderated by Jan Philipp Albrecht, participants explored how transatlantic economic relations may evolve post-election. It was a pleasure to welcome Dr. Gesa Miehe-Nordmeyer, Directorate-General for Social, Health, Labor Market, Environmental and Societal Policy from the Federal Chancellory, to Friday's Healthcare Committee Meeting hosted by Johnson & Johnson at Potsdamer Platz, just meters away from President Biden's hotel. Under the moderation of Dorothee Stamm, one of our Healthcare Committee Chairs, we discussed the German hospital reform (#Krankenhausgesetz), medical research law (#Medizinforschungsgesetz), EU pharmaceutical legislation, as well as the importance of the industrial healthcare sector for Germany as a business location. A big thank you to Dr. Miehe-Nordmeyer - a frequent guest at our committee meetings - for sharing her insights. It was an honor for us to welcome Stefanie Drese, Minister of Social Affairs, Health and Sports of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, to yesterday's virtual Healthcare Committee meeting. With the passage of yesterday's hospital reform (#Krankenhausreform) by the German Bundestag, our meeting couldn't have come at a more opportune time. During the meeting, our members had the opportunity to discuss the recently passed legislation and the perspective of the German federal states with Minister Drese. Thank you for taking the time to meet with us!
