We got super excited 😊 while meeting Mr. Malhar Thakkar (Head of Strategic Alliance & AI at Intel) and learning about the technical capabilities of Gaudi 2 in training and inference of Large Vision-Language Models. Why did we get so excited? Firstly, we were quite stunned about Gaudi 2 surpassing Nvidia H100 in terms of compute when fine-tuning with Intel's ‘BridgeTower' vision-language model. Secondly, after seeing their latest Llama 2 large language model and learning that it can be run locally on a laptop equipped with Intel’s ultra power-efficient neural processing unit (NPU) we immediately see the opportunity to address our customer base's right to privacy needs. Causal vision-language models and multimodal capabilities are crucial to Blinkin’s ambition to provide consumers, companies and creators with ways to deploy AI-aided companion experiences that help people solve real-world challenges with the products they own. In other words, our Senior Applied Scientist Akshay Joshi immediately wanted to get his hands dirty 🔧 and we would love to be one of the Gaudi 2 ML success stories coming out of the Intel Ignite Program.
