#BSC participated at the workshop " 🐓 & 🥚": Ramping-up #Hydrogen Refuelling Stations for the Baltic Sea Region, during the final day of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region Annual Forum 2024. It was organised by the GREATER4H project which supports the develop of a hydrogen corridor from #Hamburg to #Oslo. Blue Supply Chains and GREATER4H initiatives share joint challenges, regardless of the different perspective ( ⚓ maritime vs. 🚛 road transportation): Questions on economic feasible solutions, market perspectives and joint creation of demand have overlaps. ...AND sectors can co-operate to ramping-up demands! #Swedish #BSC partners teamed up and focus on supporting ports and shipping in the #transitioning towards #fossil-free #operations. A national strategy for the production, storage and bunkering of fossil-free fuels will be developed, which, given how it will be used as a role-model for the country of Sweden, only further accentuates the trust put in the expertise of this consortium. 🍀Find out more and discover other greening activities initiated by #BSC: https://lnkd.in/didC65ez Umeå Energi AB, IVL, Lindholmen Science Park, Umeå Kommun, #UmeaPort, INAB-Infrastruktur i Umeå Thank you to STRING, Scandria®Alliance, GREATER4H, Sven Friedrich and Wedad Kabi making this exchange on perspectives possible! 💡 #BlueSupplyChains is funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region and supported by EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, EUSBSR PA Ship & VASAB. 💡 #BSC project partners: Port of Hamburg , ROSTOCK PORT, Ventspils Augsto tehnoloģiju parks | High Technology Park, Trelleborgs Hamn AB / Port of Trelleborg, Skagen Havn - Port of Skagen , Klaipeda Science and Technology Park, Motus Foundation, Lithuanian Inland Waterways Authority, Uniwersytet Gdański , Umeå Energi AB, Stena Line, IVL, Lindholmen Science Park, Umeå Kommun, #UmeaPort, INAB-Infrastruktur i Umeå AB, Gdynia Container Terminal - A member of CK Hutchison Holdings, Baltic Ports Organization, modility, Shipping & Offshore Network, and Studiengesellschaft für den Kombinierten Verkehr e.V. #ports #terminals, #maritime, #tranport, #logistics, #sustainability, #climate, #greening, #environment, #decarbonization, #electrification, #cooperation

The Blue Supply Chains project strives to support port authorities and port operators to decarbonise port activities.
Info
The Blue Supply Chains project strives to support port authorities and operators in implementing long-term steps towards decarbonisation. The project is funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme and follows a three-pillar approach to include various port-relevant aspects. This encompasses answers to the questions of how the process of greening port operations can be supported (e.g. via electrification of handling equipment), how alternative fuels can be expanded (bunkering and loading strategy) and how environmentally friendly transport chains can be maintained and better connected (via combined transport). The project will run from January 2023 to December 2025 under the leadership of Hafen Hamburg Marketing.

☕️ Meet Blue Supply Chains project representatives Adina Cailliaux and Stefan Breitenbach at the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region Annual Forum in #Visby! 🛟 #BSC supports the set-up of a #sustainable and #resilient transport system in the Baltic Sea Region. ROSTOCK PORT, Trelleborgs Hamn AB / Port of Trelleborg, Stena Line and modility are working togethet to strengthen the only remaining rail ferry link in the Baltic Sea. We believe that combining the two most efficient modes of transport – ship and rail – can play a vital role to achieve climate goals on transport. At the same time a redundancy of the combined transport corridor via the bridges between Scandinavia and other EU countries is achived. Not to forget #militarymobility aspects. 🍀Find out more and discover other greening activities initiated by #BSC: https://lnkd.in/dxXSmupV 💡 #BlueSupplyChains is funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region and supported by EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, EUSBSR PA Ship & VASAB. 💡 #BSC project partners: Port of Hamburg , ROSTOCK PORT, Ventspils Augsto tehnoloģiju parks | High Technology Park, Trelleborgs Hamn AB / Port of Trelleborg, Skagen Havn - Port of Skagen , Klaipeda Science and Technology Park, Motus Foundation, Lithuanian Inland Waterways Authority, Uniwersytet Gdański , Umeå Energi AB, Stena Line, IVL, Lindholmen Science Park, Umeå Kommun, #UmeaPort, INAB-Infrastruktur i Umeå AB, Gdynia Container Terminal - A member of CK Hutchison Holdings, Baltic Ports Organization, modility, Shipping & Offshore Network, and Studiengesellschaft für den Kombinierten Verkehr e.V. #ports #terminals, #maritime, #tranport, #logistics, #sustainability, #climate, #greening, #environment, #decarbonization, #electrification, #cooperation

Transforming Ports for a Sustainable Future: The Blue Supply Chains project visited Klaipeda Stevedoring Company BEGA in #Klaipeda to experience e-locomotives 🚂 🔌 Ports have always played a crucial role in economic and social development. However, they also contribute significantly to pollutant emissions through freight traffic and port activities. With the #EU's ambitious climate targets, it's time to view ports as key players in the transition to #zero-emission operations and green fuels. The Blue Supply Chains project supports port authorities to do so! 💚 During a site visit to Klaipeda Stevedoring Company BEGA at Klaipėdos uostas/Port of Klaipėda (#Lithuania) Mr Gediminas Gudavicius presented companies own innovations in #e-lokomotives. #BEGA staff invented a methodology and software to bring a second life to used car battery packs and #electric engines, to power #locomotives on their own terminal surface. Those are used to move rail waggons for loading and unloading procedures. Grain im- and export plays a big role in the port. Before this innovation the shunting was executed by diesel locomotives. 💚 #Emissions are safed, safety and efficiency has been increased a lot! Follow this nice example and learn form #BEGA experience! 💡 #BlueSupplyChains is funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region and supported by EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region & VASAB. 💡 #BSC project partners: Port of Hamburg, ROSTOCK PORT, Ventspils Augsto tehnoloģiju parks | High Technology Park, Trelleborgs Hamn AB / Port of Trelleborg, Skagen Havn - Port of Skagen , Klaipeda Science and Technology Park, Motus Foundation, Lithuanian Inland Waterways Authority, Uniwersytet Gdański, Umeå Energi AB, Stena Line, IVL Svenska Miljöinstitutet, Lindholmen Science Park, Umeå Kommun, #UmeaPort, INAB-Infrastruktur i Umeå AB, Gdynia Container Terminal - A member of CK Hutchison Holdings, Baltic Ports Organization, modility, Shipping & Offshore Network and Studiengesellschaft für den Kombinierten Verkehr e.V. #ports #terminals, #maritime, #tranport, #logistics, #sustainability, #climate, #greening, #environment, #decarbonization, #electrification, #cooperation
