Kick-off event of a Trilateral Seminar Series 🇺🇸🇯🇵🇰🇷
It is with great anticipation that I announce my participation as a panelist in the upcoming seminar titled “ICT Competition and Cybersecurity in the 21st Century Geopolitics,” which will be held on October 24, 2024, at Goethe University Frankfurt.
This seminar, the first in a trilateral series co-hosted by the Consulates General of Japan, Korea, and the United States in Frankfurt, will address the crucial intersections of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and cybersecurity within the framework of contemporary global geopolitics. As technological advancements increasingly drive inter-state competition, particularly in the ICT sector, the implications for cybersecurity are profound and require a collaborative, strategic approach. I look forward to exploring how geopolitical developments are shaping these domains, and the varied response strategies from Europe, Asia, and the United States.
The event will begin with a keynote address by Prof. Dr. Haya Schulmann, from the National Research Center for Applied Cybersecurity Athene, followed by a panel discussion featuring:
Dr. So Jeong Kim 🇰🇷 | Senior Research Fellow, Institute for National Security Strategy (INSS)
Dr. Hermann Gumpp 🇯🇵 | Managing Director, Enobyte GmbH & DJW Special Advisor, Cybersecurity & Data Protection
John Nix 🇺🇸 | Director of International Development, SANS Institute
Moderation by: Dr. Thomas Reinhold | PRIF Peace Research Institute Frankfurt
As panelists, we will delve into critical discussions surrounding the role of emerging technologies in geopolitical competition, cybersecurity risks, and strategic responses, particularly from a trilateral perspective involving Europe, Asia, and the U.S.
