#Cancer research: Hannah York from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, is currently at GSI/FAIR for medical physics studies related to cancer therapy. In the interview she gives us insights in her motivations and her career path ⬇️ 🎓 Are you interested in joining us at GSI/FAIR? Check out the possibilities at GET_INvolved in research with FAIR
There is an assumption amongst many that the field of medical physics is centered simply around the inner-workings and improvement of technology. Second-year Master of Science in Medical Physics student Hannah York, however, counters that idea. For her, medical physics is all about bettering the lives and outcomes of patients most in need with technology as a tool. It's this passion for healing that led her both to Vanderbilt's MSMP program and 4,500 miles away to GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt, Germany where she is currently performing research to help accelerate U.S. approval of a new form of radiation therapy for pediatric brain cancer patients.
