We optimise the impact of MfN's Public Engagement through impact, culture change and co-creation research and practice.

Info

IETI is hosted by the Public Engagement & Impact unit of the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin (MfN), and aims to increase the quality and efficiency of the museum’s Public Engagement. This will contribute to its academic, societal, and environmental impact. IETI’s research and practice are divided into three work packages: - In Work Package 1, Concepts & Contexts, we will map relevant stakeholders, Public Engagement initiatives, and motivations or needs regarding Public Engagement. We will also co-define Public Engagement-related concepts and frameworks, as well as understand the interrelationships between them. - In Work Package 2, Impact Planning & Assessment, we will identify Public Engagement impact goals and indicators; co-create a Public Engagement impact model for the museum; and develop and implement impact research that evaluates the impact of the museum’s Public Engagement. - And finally, Work Package 3, Culture Change & Co-creation, focuses on enabling engagement and co-creation with external stakeholders, as well as rewarding and incentivizing Public Engagement. This will be done through impact & sustainability catered workshops; citizen assemblies and design-thinking activities; as well as Public Engagement institutional prizes and grants. By the end of the project, IETI will have generated: multiple results and lessons from research and practice; briefs on how to optimise the museum's impact; several impact and culture change initiatives; practice reports for Public Engagement practitioners and professionals; and research articles for the academic community. Write to us (ieti@mfn.berlin) if you would like to get in touch. IETI is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Funding duration: 2022-2025.
