IETI: Impact-oriented Public Engagement’s Post

My recently published article titled “Physical activity in public space: Insights from a global community of practice applying photovoice as a tool for digital participatory place analysis" is a collaborative work of researchers from eight different countries in Europe, South America, and Asia. The article is published in the Q1 Journal of Cities and Health. It investigates the case studies from eight different countries across the globe and explores how the online-photovoice approach can be applied to place analysis for healthy urban development at different places with practitioners, communities, and scientists from diverse backgrounds. 🛣 Round Two of the Networking Grants by The Academy of Medical Sciences in the UK is open. 🇬🇧 The grants provide up to £25,000 over one year to support collaborations between researchers in other countries and the UK, and to hold networking events aimed at strengthening global research capacity. 🤝 👐 This Networking Grants scheme allows researchers from across disciplines and countries, working with researchers based in the UK, to hold networking events, forge new links and generate innovative transdisciplinary research ideas. The goal is that these new networks will be well positioned to compete for larger grants offered in the future. Humanity stands on the shoulders of its ancestors. Our world, our societies, democracies, cities, bodies and minds have been formed by the generations before us. Just like the generations before us have shaped the world we live in; we are shaping the world future generations will live in. Therefore, it makes sense to consider how our actions today affect the health and wellbeing of future generations. I am honored to start as first Future Generations Commissioner at AmsterdamUMC and stimulate thinking about the long term. Advocate for the interest of future generations, and translating scientific insights into policies and practice that contribute to the health of current and future generations across Amsterdam UMC and beyond. My new role will be about making connections: connecting our past to our future. Connecting science to society. Connecting policy to practice. Connecting disciplines. But most importantly, connecting people. It will be a learning experience for me, and I look forward to making new connections, and learning from people's experiences. Together we are laying the foundations for the world in which future generations will live.
