🏆 Milestone reached: The Shenyang plant has successfully passed the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) certification audit! The RBA is a globally recognized standard for social responsibility in the supply chain. Our plant met the requirements in all aspects and achieved particularly high scores in the areas of environment, ethics and supply chain management. 🚗 Successful start of the #IZB2024 in Wolfsburg! We feel honored: As one of only six out of 900 exhibitors, the Group and Brand Board of Management of the Volkswagen Group visited us at the exclusive VIP Tech Walk at our stand! On the first day of the fair, we were able to welcome around 50 high-ranking VW board members, including Oliver Blume (Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG and Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche AG) and Dirk Große-Loheide (Board Member for Purchasing at VW Passenger Cars, member of the extended Group Management Board). The focus was on the joint research project between KIRCHHOFF Automotive and VW Group Innovation on the use of a new steel grade made of silicon-boron steel “SIBORA”. Anna Szklarz, Global Director of Social Responsibility and Sustainability, and Joanna Broda, Global Senior Social Responsibility and Sustainability Specialist, led a popular table on ESG-R reporting. “SIBORA” – revolutionary new steel grade, developed in collaboration with Volkswagen AG and successfully tested on various prototypes. In the press-hardened state, SIBORA exhibits high strength and, thanks to its bainite and metastable residual austenite, also higher residual formability. Tests on a hot-formed B-pillar made of SIBORA material under series production conditions show that an improvement in crash safety can be achieved due to higher energy absorption while simultaneously reducing the body mass.
