Info

Digitalization is drastically changing entire industries and business models. But it’s also opening new opportunities to be explored and exploited. That’s why Porsche Digital was founded in 2016 as the technology and digital unit of Porsche AG. Our primary mission is to discover and scale new digital business models, as well as to optimize existing products. To do so, we’re creating technologically advanced industry solutions while expanding the digital ecosystem through collaboration with promising start-ups. To tap into promising business models outside the company, we draw on our global network of ten innovation centres. These are located in Ludwigsburg, Berlin, Tel Aviv, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Barcelona, Zagreb, Atlanta and Palo Alto in Silicon Valley.

Leadership Transition at Porsche Digital! Stefan Zerweck will be taking over a new position and become our CEO at Porsche Digital, succeeding Mattias Ulbrich, who will be joining Volkswagen Group responsible for Group Organizational Development. As former COO, Stefan has been a key figure in our company, working closely with Mattias to drive strategic initiatives. On behalf of all colleagues, we would like to say “Thank you!” to Mattias for his remarkable contribution and inspiring leadership over the years. Mattias’ clear vision and technological expertise have made a lasting impact, including implementing the SAFe framework, which has been instrumental in scaling our operations. Under his guidance, the teams at Porsche Digital created excellent digital products that continue to excite Porsche drivers and customers. We wish Mattias the very best in his new role and look forward to stay in touch! Stefan, having worked in a strong tandem with Mattias, will now step up into the CEO role. His leadership will ensure that our commitment to digital excellence stays strong. As former COO, Stefan played a major role in establishing Porsche Digital as a global tech player. When scaling Porsche Digital, Stefan has focused on lean processes that enable us to act fast and address challenges holistically. With offices across Europe, China and the U.S., he has built a truly global network of digital expertise, always close to markets and trends. Our goal at Porsche Digital is to enrich the digital life of Porsche drivers and enthusiasts. With the new leadership, we will thrive on fulfilling that promise.  Last but not least, we would like to congratulate Maren Springmann on her new role as CIO at Porsche AG and look forward to be working with her and CIOO Dieter Steinmetz in the future. #PorscheDigital

Corinna G. is one of our many talented software developers at Porsche Digital Barcelona. Working in the Communities team, she’s building a cross-platform application for Porsche owners that are also passionate about golf and GT cars.   Corinna joined the team over two years ago, but didn’t come from a technical background. In fact, she was previously working as a project manager at an NGO. Corinna decided to change her career and studied at a boot camp to gain software skills, before then applying to Porsche Digital.   “Coming from a different background, you might feel a bit insecure about your abilities,” says Corinna. “But here, I’ve never doubted what I was able to do. I’ve found a lot of good mentors that have helped me to grow, and the people I’m surrounded by are really the best asset of this company!”

As part of a strategic focus, we’ve handed over our office in Guadalajara, Mexico to the management and IT consultancy MHP – A Porsche Company – another subsidiary of Porsche AG. The office in Guadalajara will continue to grow within the Porsche Digital Family, but as part of our partner MHP. The company took on all employees of Porsche Digital in Mexico and is building on the structures we established there to offer IT services specifically for the Central and North American markets. Going forward, we will concentrate on our teams in our ten current locations in the USA, Europe and China. We’re extremely grateful to our former colleagues for their incredibly hard work and wish them the best for the future. We look forward to welcoming colleagues at the new entity and to continuing the strong collaboration within the Porsche Digital Family.

Members of the Porsche Digital team collected rubbish around our offices as well as in their own communities at home. In China, our team members took part in volunteer activities organized by Porsche (China) Motors Ltd. Thanks to everyone who joined us! We drive digital excellence in our two Porsche Digital US offices!    At the Palo Alto office in Silicon Valley, the team specializes in the areas of connected services and in-car solutions. The benefit of working in close proximity to large global tech companies is that established ecosystems can be more easily integrated into our portfolio of digital solutions. This includes, for example, the integration of Apple CarPlay™ into the My Porsche App. And with a thriving startup ecosystem, Silicon Valley also offers us access to innovative minds and the opportunity to invest in new and emerging technologies.   Our Atlanta office focuses on the overall digital customer interface. Located in a city with a strong reputation as a hotspot for tech talent in the transportation hub of Georgia, our team develops and contributes to advanced digital solutions for Porsche customers and dealers in North America, including the My Porsche App. Co-located with Porsche Cars North America, Porsche Financial Services, MHP, and Porsche Consulting, our teams benefit from close collaboration within the Porsche North American Family. Additionally, our colleagues enjoy a fantastic view of the racetrack at the Porsche Experience Center and are just steps away from both classic and current Porsche models!   Together, the teams in Palo Alto and Atlanta are driving the future of digital innovation for Porsche.

State-of-the-art technology is at the core of our products and services and allows us to approach business challenges from a new angle. One such technology is artificial intelligence, which is playing an increasingly important role in our field of work.   To share knowledge and insights from the exciting world of AI, our Solutions Architect / Tech Lead José Luis Sánchez Ballesteros recently hosted an engaging masterclass with the team at Porsche Digital Barcelona.   Through hands-on sessions, our digital experts learned how to train their very own AI models using TensorFlow.js. And after making such fantastic progress, we’re already excited to see how they’ll apply their knowledge to future products and services!

Why do we work with open source software?   From the outside, many software applications may appear completely different to each other and solve unique problems. But take a closer look and you’ll find that the frontend stacks, largely composed of open-source software, are nearly identical.   Nowadays, even the most innovative tech companies use open-source components to improve efficiency and form a solid foundation for their software solutions, representing 80 to 90% of the final product.   In addition, open-source software components are built with reusability in mind. Individual parts can be stacked together according to specific needs, as well as replaced by better fitting ones. The base 90% therefore continuously gets better and better.   There’s no need to spend hours on a problem that has already been solved. By making use of tried and tested components, our developers can tackle the real challenges and focus on the remaining 10% – this is what really matters to customers and where we can offer a best-in-class user experience!
