📢 The owner-managed logistics company Röhlig Logistics, and Hapag-Lloyd, one of the world's largest container shipping lines, have entered a strategic partnership to reduce shipping emissions through the integration of biofuels.  Under the agreement, Röhlig will utilise Hapag-Lloyd’s advanced biofuel product “Ship Green” for emission-reduced ocean transport. By purchasing biofuel derived from waste and residue-based feedstocks, Röhlig ensures that emissions equal to 100% of its shipments’ well-to-wake footprint are avoided within the Hapag-Lloyd fleet. This cooperation is aligned with both companies’ ongoing efforts to offer sustainable logistics solutions and contribute to global climate protection. A top tip when using FCA Incoterms! ☝ Last week we discussed how FCA can be used as an alternative to the EXW Incoterm. However, ensure the place of delivery and mode of transport are made clear. When specifying the place of FCA delivery, this should be stated as clearly as possible - especially since onward transport can be carried out via any conceivable transport route. While ‘FCA Hamburg’, for example, is very general, ‘FCA Seaport of Hamburg’ makes it immediately clear that the goods are to be transported by ship. 📢 The owner-managed logistics company Röhlig Logistics has expanded its global network by opening a new subsidiary in Dublin, Ireland. After over 20 years of successful collaboration, Röhlig has acquired a majority shareholding in its former agent, AirOcean Ireland, effective 1 August 2024. Starting in January 2025, the company will operate as Röhlig Ireland.  Garrett O’Brien, founder and director of AirOcean Ireland, will take on the role of Managing Director for Röhlig Ireland. "I am excited about this new chapter and look forward to working even more closely with colleagues across the global Röhlig network. At Röhlig Ireland, our goal will be to drive growth by embracing the latest technological advancements in the logistics industry – while never losing sight of our people and ensuring that they remain the most integral part of our business." Something about the EXW Incoterm that you may not know…🤯 The EXW Incoterm places the least demands on the seller. They must make the goods available to the buyer at the agreed time at a named place (factory, warehouse, etc.) and packaged for transport. If the goods are intended for export, the buyer must take care of clearing the goods for export with Incoterm EXW. As this is done abroad from the buyer's perspective, this can be an insurmountable hurdle - for example, because only a locally-based exporter can obtain the necessary licence for export.
