As the only professional body dedicated to the aerospace, aviation and space communities, the RAeS exists to further the advancement of aeronautical art, science and engineering around the world. Established in 1866, the Society has been at the forefront of developments in aerospace, seeking to promote the highest professional standards and provide a central forum for sharing knowledge. The youngest of the branches of the Society, the Berlin-Brandenburg branch formed in December 2023 and exists to promote and further the Society's aims within the Aerospace, Aviation and Space sectors in the Capital and surrounding area of the EU's largest economy. The branch establishment ensures the Society’s presence in all three of Germany’s major Aerospace centres, alongside Hamburg and Munich. The Berlin-Brandenburg region encompasses a wide range of Manufacturing, Repair & Overhaul and Research facilities as well as Universities & Training Establishments associated with the Aerospace sector. Berlin is also home to a variety of European and International Aerospace entity representative offices as well as hosting a major diplomatic presence. Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport also lies within our catchment area. The core of the initial branch membership has strong ties to Rolls-Royce Deutschland at Dahlewitz, that lies close to Berlin & BBI. From this solid foundation we intend to expand our presence and membership through a strong programme of lectures and other events, with the active support and engagement of both the UK Embassy in Berlin and RRD. We're particularly focused on engaging with local educational & training establishments to help promote and support the next generation of engineers and specialists to the industry. The Branch encourages all those passionate about Aviation, Aeronautics and Astronautics in the region to engage and join with us to help shape and share the industry's future. It was great fun to show the new boss some of the amazing work happening in aerospace and space in Bavaria! 🚀 It was a great round table organised by the colleagues at bavAIRia e.V. (thank you Andreas Gundel!) Thank you for hosting us at OHB Dr. Lena Stern (and for letting us have a look in the clean room, which was definitely a highlight 🛰) and of course Saskia Horsch for the tour at Lilium - amazing how much has happened since my last visit!
Ready for Take-Off! Very pleased Arnaud D. you are continuing to spread the inspiring word on the excellent progress and leaps that ArianeGroup is making in the realm of the final frontier. We trust your presentation was as well received as it was at the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) Berlin-Brandenburg Branch lecture you gave recently at Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd & Co. KG Aero Engines in Dahlewitz. We wish to thank you once more.
🚀 Exciting milestone for European space exploration! 🚀 As ArianeGroup representative, I’m thrilled to share our latest insights and achievements with Ariane 6, Europe's next-generation launcher, detailed in this attached presentation: “Ariane 6: From Design to First Flight”. I have done this presentation jointly with Aline Decadi from European Space Agency - ESA during IAF Space Transportation Committee technical session of the International Astronautical Congress 2024 (IAC-24) taking place in Milano, Italy. Ariane 6 is designed to guarantee Europe’s independent access to space while offering unmatched flexibility, versatility, and modularity. Its inaugural flight was a full success on July 9, 2024, from the European Spaceport in French Guiana operated by CNES. 🎦 The video of the Inaugural Flight in a nutshell: https://lnkd.in/ePSqSJiR 🎬 The full Ariane 6 Inaugural Flight coverage (clean feed: 5h video!): https://lnkd.in/eyBZPt5J 🎞️ Another top-quality video called "Behind the scenes" with testimonies of people involved: https://lnkd.in/eZTd5Ewk Here are some key highlights: ➡️ System Qualification: Extensive testing of Vulcain in Kourou and Vinci in Lampoldshausen with the support of German Aerospace Center (DLR), ensuring a mature and robust launch system. ➡️ Global Collaboration: 13 European countries and over 600 companies, involving 13,000 rocket makers, contributed to making Ariane 6 a reality. ➡️ Versatility, Modularity & Flexibility: With its two configurations (2 or 4 boosters), Ariane 6 offers mission versatility for institutional and commercial customers and can launch to various orbits thanks to the reignitable Vinci engine with the operating, marketing and launch service providing job done by amazing people of ARIANESPACE. Looking ahead, Ariane 6’s roadmap includes significant future advancements like the P160C booster and the Argonaut mission, with a European lander targeting the Moon! Don’t miss out on the Late Breaking News panel on October 18 at the IAC 2024 event for the latest updates.
