“Landesgartenschau” New Footbridge Our proposal for the #landscape / cyclist and pedestrian #footbridge competition in #Rottweil, Germany. Thanks to our team partners: Engineers Werner Sobek Renderings 2DR studio   The "Landesgartenschau" New Footbridge in Rottweil, pivotal to the 2028 State Garden Show, enhances #urban integration and #revitalizes the Neckar meander. Spanning 175 meters with a 3.50-meter width, it accommodates pedestrians and cyclists with seating and balconies. Constructed with a steel superstructure and reinforced concrete foundations, its V-shaped supports ensure rigidity and minimal visual #impact. Using CO2-reduced steel and wood, the bridge emphasizes durability and #environmental responsibility. An #energy-efficient, insect-friendly LED lighting system, controlled by presence detectors and timers, ensures minimal disruption to railroad operations during its four-phase #construction. The design minimizes maintenance, promising up to 110 years of service for concrete and 100 years for steel. The footbridge, embodying #sustainability and social #integration, becomes a new #landmark enhancing Rottweil's aesthetic and cultural landscape.

The two bridges designed as a pair are to create new pathways at the rear of the old town hall and contribute to opening up the #castle park in the direction of Bedburg's city center. They aim to clearly emphasize the relationship to the Erft River, to make the proximity to the #water tangible and to create new #connections. INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE IDEAS COMPETITION / UNDERBRIDGE / AFFORDABLE HOUSING SERIES 17TH EDITION / JURY Thanks Architecture Competitions // Buildner for organizing this #award and selecting Nicolas Sterling and Elke Sterling-Presser as part of the #jury. As cities expand, underutilized spaces beneath #bridges remained dormant, overshadowed by their towering counterparts. This #competition aims at finding innovative ways of transforming these neglected areas into dynamic and thriving communities. We are very happy to see the final outcome of the award topic we initiated. Congrats to Yujun Cai for winning 1st place Buildner Student Award! It is a great proposal that explores the size of a megastructure at the urban scale and its direct impact on local communities. The project deals with the "negative space" and distances itself from the very high roof that forms the bridge deck to create a poetic experience at the water level and provide cultural contribution to the community. Gestern fand unser alljährliches NAX-Patentreffen in der Würth Group-Repräsentanz auf Schwanenwerder statt. Es war schön, unsere NAX-Patinnen, -Paten, -Partner sowie Gäste aus Wirtschaft, Forschung und Politik bei angenehm sommerlichen Temperaturen wieder so zahlreich begrüßen zu dürfen. Wir hatten einen gelungenen Tag mit - spannenden Vorträgen zum Thema KI in Architektur und Bauwesen inkl. toller Fragen aus dem Publikum, - einer eindrucksvollen Führung durch das geschichtsträchtige Haus der Wannseekonferenz, -einer intensiven, informativen und offenen Diskussion mit Sören Bartol, Parlamentarischer Staatssekretär im Bundesministerium für Wohnen, Stadtentwicklung und Bauwesen, zu aktuellen Themen wie die Stärkung des sozialen, bezahlbaren Wohnungsbaus sowie Bürokratieabbau und Digitalisierung, - und last, but not least, mit jeder Menge konstruktivem Austausch, Networking, leckerem Essen und wunderbaren Gastgebern im Würth-Haus in malerischer Umgebung.
