We are excited to announce the €5,7M seed extension for our portfolio company Fairown! ✍️   We are super thrilled that the German impact investor BonVenture is on board as lead investor for this round! Together with the existing investors neosfer, the early-stage investor and innovation unit of the Commerzbank AG and Gateway Ventures, we are looking forward to working with you. 🚀   Fairown has expanded rapidly across Europe, offering its unique subscription service in nine countries. Following its success in the Baltics, Nordics, and Poland. The new funding round will enable them to further develop and scale the product, as well as grow their customer base in Germany. With numerous major customers, Fairown is well positioned for further growth. 🌎🌍🌏 

#Wildfire risk is on the #rise across #Europe – What can we do?     🏕 Climate change and its consequences, such as increased temperatures and dry soil conditions, lead to an increased risk of forest fires every year. In Saxony-Anhalt, the highest level of forest fire alert was declared in districts on Saturday, and forest fires have also broken out in southern Europe in recent weeks. The main cause of forest fires in Germany is the human factor, whether through negligence or arson, fueld by the existing conditions.   🔎 The map shows the ECMWF Fire Danger Index for the last 30 days. The risk ranges from low to very extreme. While the risk is high to very high in central Germany, the European Mediterranean countries are at extreme to very extreme risk of forest fires. The map also shows extreme risk in parts of North and South America, parts of Africa and Asia. For the full map follow the link in the comments.   📋 What can be done? Forest fires must be detected as early as possible in order to extinguish them and prevent structural damage. One option is Silvanet, the AI forest fire early detection system from our portfolio company Dryad Networks. Using sensors attached to trees, it detects fires faster than traditional technologies such as cameras and satellite surveillance.   💬 How do you behave in the forest to avoid fires?

The topic of his talk was "Corporate Startup Partnerships with a System: The Pragmatic Approach of STIHL Ventures."    💬 In his speech, he stated that corporates have recognized the potential of the #venture approach to facilitate cost savings and enhance organizational efficiency. The #startup ecosystem is equipped with substantial financial resources that could be allocated to address a multitude of individual challenges. Why not take advantage of these opportunities?    🧲 The push-pull approach was then discussed with a focus on the question of how to establish a mutual understanding within the organization. We are pushing a lot of opportunities to the departments that we see on the market through research and our network. 🚀 Our #STIHL Startup #Spotlight Recap! 🚀   Last week, we organized our own in-house startup #fair with a great selection of interesting startups. After an introduction by CFO Ingrid Jägering on the importance of STIHL Ventures and fruitful cooperation opportunities with startups for STIHL's innovative orientation, Christian Hüttenhein gave a presentation on the chances venture clienting offers for companies and startups.   🎯 Why did we invest time and money in this event?   ➡️ To set the stage and establish the first direct contact between the startups and the business units. ➡️ To have a constructive dialogue between both sides about possible applications of the solutions in practice and to initiate possible PoCs. ➡️ To raise internal awareness of the Venture Department's work in startup partnerships.   👏 A big thank you to all the great startups who made the trip to Waiblingen and presented their innovative technologies to all our STIHL colleagues. 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴! 🚀 Yesterday we took part in an event organised by Gründermotor. After an exciting and informative AI workshop of the Fraunhofer IAO 🤖, we went to the ARENA2036, where two startups had the opportunity to pitch in front of a group of industry experts and then had a discussion with Selina Lehmann from MAHLE New Ventures and Ronald Hotz from our team about the requirements and challenges of startup collaborations with corporates. 💡 Here are some of the key learnings: ➡️ Not every collaboration works right from the start. It requires commitment and resilience on both sides. ➡️ Working together to optimise the status quo enables win-win situations for both partners through the development of valuable products and cost savings on the user side. ➡️ Hands-on work on a PoC enables mutual growth.
