Architect Carsten Joost has created a home for his family near Hamburg, Germany in a modern cubic design with minimalist aesthetics, thus bringing his unique interpretation of loft style out into the countryside. For the furniture, they decided right from the start to use Thonet’s iconic tubular steel cantilever chairs: the S 43 (design: Mart Stam) and the S 64 (design: Marcel Breuer). "These chairs are timeless classics and they fit our idea of successful minimalist design: form follows function. Moreover, comfort was a big factor for us, and these chairs are unbelievably comfortable. And, in the end, that is what really matters when it comes to seating." - Carsten Joost Read the whole interview: https://lnkd.in/eEVgPunN

Revitalisation in the contract business It’s a simple calculation: the longer an item is used the less impact its manufacture ultimately has on the environment. Thus, longevity is one of the most important elements of furniture design. As long as a chair, table or shelf can still be used, there is no need to make a new one. In other words, the most sustainable products are the ones that already exist. Thonet’s long company history spanning more than 200 years speaks for itself: Thonet products are built to last. The images show the before, the revitalisiation and the after. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eb_fHBEu

Law firm Morrison & Foerster in Berlin The internationally operating law firm Morrison & Foerster has one of its 16 sites in the centre of Berlin on Potsdamer Platz. The law firm decided to use Thonet chairs from programme ranges S 32/S 64 and S 840 to furnish the offices.
