🌟 Exciting Times at TUCSTART-Messe! 🌟 New semester, new faces Our TUC Drillbotics team had the privilege to participate in the recent TUCSTART-Messe at TU Clausthal! This incredible event welcomed new students to explore our university, discover active projects, and engage with teams, faculty, and innovative ideas. The event was a fantastic opportunity to introduce our project, share our vision, and connect with new students interested in gaining hands-on experience in robotics, drilling technology, and engineering. We loved discussing our goals and sharing insights on what we do and why it matters. Connecting with eager, curious minds was refreshing for us, and it highlighted how valuable these interactions are – not just for introducing students to the resources available but for bringing fresh perspectives and energy into our team. 🚀 We are both motivated and excited by the opportunity to grow our team with new students. Here's to new faces, new ideas, stronger and reliable, more innovative future! 🔋🌎 #Drillbotics #DirectionalDrilling #InnovatingtheFuture

We have an announcement for all our valuable followers and business partners who follow our work. We are pleased to announce that we have joined a cooperation with the Mars Rover team ERIG e.V. at TU Braunschweig. With this new project, we are starting a new challenge. We are excitedly waiting for the innovations that the project will bring to all of us. As part of this cooperation, we are helping the ORTHOS team to set up the deep sampling device, which is the module on the rover. It is utilized to drill into the Martian soil, collect a sample and measure its weight. Our goal is to complete this project successfully, where we can share knowledge and discover innovations with our partner ERIG. We look forward to showcasing our hard work and innovation. #Drillbotics #DirectionalDrilling #InnovatingtheFuture

WELL CONTROL TEAM EMERGES FIRST-RUNNER UP OF DRILLBOTICS GLOBAL COMPETITION The 2024 Drillbotics competition, featuring teams from prestigious universities across continents such as North America, Europe, Asia, competed in a global event organized by the SPE Drilling Systems Automation Technical Section (DSATS) of the Society of Petroleum Engineers International, aiming to accelerate drilling automation in the oil and gas industry. The UMaT Drillbotics Team participated in both the directional drilling and well control categories within Group A (virtual rig). The well control team emerged FIRST-RUNNER UP of the drillbotics competition,. The well control team developed a software that combines domain knowledge (logics) with artificial intelligence to provide a real-time monitoring of well control events such as kicks. The team was led by Joel Mensah, assisted by Aaron Ontoyin Yin, with faculty advisor RICHARD AMORIN, and project advisor Graham Mensa-Wilmot, P.E.. The well control team comprised: Aaron Ontoyin Yin, Janet Intuah, Gabriel .E. Kwofie, Fedra Mensah Martha, Precious Sagoe. According to Drillbotics, the work done by the team highlighted several key trends in drilling automation. [https://lnkd.in/d7qNQr7F] Shashi Talya Enrique Z. 🏆We are now two-time winners of the Drillbotics Competition (Group B)🏆 We aimed to do our best and even more during the entire preparation period. While finding new ideas every day and trying to implement them, Murphy’s Law came to our mind: “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.” Despite initial problems, we managed to win the competition by doing our best as a team, and this is the most important aspect for us. 🏆 As the winner of this year’s competition, the TUC-Drillbotics® team will have its own exhibition stand at the SPE/IADC International Drilling Conference and Exhibition in Stavanger. Additionally, we will write an SPE paper and present what we have created and our supporters. 🙏 We would like to thank all our partners and sponsors who helped us participate in the competition and realize our project: 🔹 MICON-Drilling GmbH 🔹 Baker Hughes 🔹 Würth Elektronik Group 🔹 ITEG 🔹 ITE 🔹 TPS-Technitube Röhrenwerke GmbH 🔹 TUC SPE Student Chapter 🔹 Förderverein für Tiefbohrtechnik We hope to welcome the Canadian Drillbotics team from the University of Calgary to next year’s final. We plan to participate in the Drillbotics competition again next season and continue to build synergies for our supporters. We can’t give too much away just yet, but this much we can say: We’re preparing to explore new worlds! 🚀 #EngineeringExcellence #InnovatingTheFuture #DirectionalDrilling

Ever heard of D-WIS before? 🤔 For the Drillbotics Competition 2024, we reached a major milestone by sharing our real rig data in real-time using DWIS's standardized interfaces. To make this happen, we had to describe all our rig signals and the rig itself using triplets (subject, verb, object) defined by the DWIS vocabulary. The result? An impressive semantic graph that gives you a detailed view of how the rig is structured. We sorted everything by assigning weights to the relationships. All modules are separated, along with their corresponding signals. And guess what? The rig’s master clock was identified as the heart of the system. Today we introduce you to Kaisar Ali Dawara Jarbouh, a member of our team since 2024. He is studying Informatics / Computer Science (B. Sc.) at TU-Clausthal. 🖥 Kaisar's statement about our project is “Robotics is about designing machines that collaborate with us to unlock new possibilities.” 💬 In our team, he manages and transfers data from the drilling machine to the server using the MQTT protocol. He configured Telegraf in our InfluxDB to collect and store sensor data, then integrated it with Grafana for effective data visualization. Kaisar also developed an app to convert sensor messages to and from Excel, simplifying sensor data configuration. 💾 Let's check out the video and hear the details of how the data transfer works. 👂 🔊 #DirectionalDrilling #InnovatingTheFuture #GeothermalDrilling #Drillbotics
