In just three years, the de facto authorities in #Afghanistan have undone nearly two decades of progress in education, placing the future of an entire generation at serious risk. Today, it is the only country in the world to prohibit access to education for girls beyond primary school. UNESCO's latest data reveals the severe educational crisis in the country. Since 2021, at least 1.4 million girls have been barred from secondary education due to restrictions imposed by the de facto authorities. This brings the total to nearly 2.5 million girls - 80% of Afghan school-age girls- denied their #RightToEducation. The situation extends to primary and higher education as well, with sharp declines in enrollment and increasing dropout rates. Education is a fundamental human right: It cannot be negotiated or compromised. UNESCO continues to support alternative learning methods in Afghanistan and calls for the full restoration of educational rights for all girls and women. #LetAfghanGirlsLearn! https://unes.co/pglw20
