OPEA is RWE’s subsidiary, developing Onshore Wind and PV in Europe and Australia (OPEA) where BESS can be developed as co-located or standalone projects. As Junior Procurement Manager for BESS OPEA you support the Category Managers for batteries and power control systems (PCS). On the one hand you will be involved in defining the overarching BESS procurement strategy, on the other, in the operative sourcing of BESS for all OPEA projects. Therefore, this role provides you the opportunity to learn from a team of experiences senior Procurement and Category Managers, enabling you to progressively work in a more autonomous way and grow into a Procurement Manger role.

You are part of the team “Regional Category Management PV & BESS OPEA” and functionally report to the Head of this team. In your daily work you cooperate with various colleagues from different departments along the project value chain and will get the chance to interact with Director and Board level.

Your future role

• Support category manager on preparing tenders for batteries/PCS and evaluating their results, in cooperation with colleagues from Engineering
• Together with the category managers, negotiate contracts/framework contracts and bringing them through internal stage gates all the way to signature
• Manage signed contracts, incl. ensuring bonds are in place , following up on invoices/payment, production status and delivery, dealing with claims and if needed re-negotiating clauses/contracts
• Support development of strategic partnerships with global suppliers and analysis of supply chain situation and price developments
• Onboard new suppliers by managing RWE’s internal pre-qualification and audit processes
• Build up close relationship with internal stakeholders across organizational boundaries
• Collect and plan procurement demand for RWE’s BESS pipeline in Europe and Australia
• Support the development and implementation of the broader BESS procurement strategy, considering the dynamic supply chain situation, regulatory frameworks and OPEA’s growing BESS pipeline in various geographies
  
  

Your Powerful Skills

• Excellent completed university degree in electrical/industrial engineering, business administration/ management, economics or a comparable degree
• First professional experience in Procurement and/or Project Management within high complex, large scale organizations is preferred but not a must
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Solid knowledge of the energy industry – preferably in the area of BESS/Renewables (Wind and/or PV)
• Ability to work under high pressure & pace while keeping a positive mind-set
• Team player with hands-on mentality
• Business fluent English mandatory (speaking and writing), and German is of advantage
• General willingness to travel internationally
