Get to know the people behind Axcel🌟Meet Ekaterina Yaltykova Esmail who works as a Fund Controller in our Finance team in Copenhagen.
Ekaterina joined Axcel in 2020 after working as a Junior Financial Account Manager at CSC. Before that, she worked in the Finance department at DSB following her MSc in Business Administration and Auditing at Copenhagen Business School.
We asked Ekaterina what drew her to private equity and what a typical day at the office looks like:
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲?
I was drawn to the PE industry because of its fast-moving nature and the opportunity to keep learning and growing. Working with talented people to manage funds and create value for investors sounded both challenging and rewarding. I also liked the mix of strategic thinking, financial expertise, and hands-on involvement with portfolio companies. In my role at Axcel, I get to apply these skills every day, whether it’s through fund reporting, compliance or audits where precision and attention to detail are key. It’s a great fit for my skills and interests.

One of the things I enjoy most about my job at Axcel is that my days are so different. As a Fund Controller, I juggle financial reporting, compliance, and operational tasks while supporting both our investors and portfolio companies. I also work closely with the investment team to help onboard new investments and make sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. A big part of my job is staying on top of KYC compliance, making sure investor documentation meets all the necessary requirements.

What I value most is the supportive culture and the chance to keep developing my skills. The variety in my role keeps things interesting and challenging, but what matters most to me is being part of a team where my work has an impact and contributes to Axcel’s success.
