Right now, there is a lot of hype surrounding the Chinese company DeepSeek's 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗥𝟭. The AI researchers at DTU Compute are also quite excited – and they are speaking to various Danish media. We have asked Professor Ole Winther to explain what it is all about. It involves 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲, and R1 also shows that the leading language models from the USA are not that far ahead. Read more on our website and find the link below. DTU Compute has the coordinator role in the Begonia Project 👇 an EU-funded initiative driving Europe's digital transformation by making our energy and transport sectors smarter, greener, and more connected. By the end of March, Begonia will have selected three final use cases. Using these, we will analyse how to technically, regulatorily, and economically investigate feasibility before moving forward with the pilot projects! Begonia's coordinator is Razgar Ebrahimy, Head of Section at our department. #dkforsk #smartenergysystem #data

Diversity, inclusion, equal treatment, and equality are fundamental principles at DTU - Technical University of Denmark. At DTU Compute, diversity and inclusion are key focus areas, led by our Head of Diversity, Sabrina Spangsdorf - Dr./PhD. Recently, Sabrina spoke about our work at an event at Akademiet for de Tekniske Videnskaber. In 2023, DTU Compute received funding from the Villum Fonden and the Novo Nordisk Foundation to establish a 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗮𝗯 to test various activities related to diversity and inclusion, focusing on strengthening the number of women in the department and our courses and improving the framework for foreign students and researchers. The focus on nationality is because international PhD students and researchers, like women in science, can find it challenging to be part of a Danish workplace. Through our diversity efforts, we conduct workplace environment surveys, hold workshops, etc., and we have 16 confidential contact persons ready to talk to and guide employees if they experience issues related to diversity and inclusion. Feel free to contact the Head of Diversity at DTU Compute Sabrina Spangsdorf - Dr./PhD, sabsp @ dtu . dk #diversity #inclusion #dkforsk #education #top5viden
#top5viden

Many small and medium-sized businesses want to use AI (artificial intelligence) and machine learning. However, they are hesitant about how best to approach it. Earlier this week, we hosted 16 businesses that gained knowledge about specific tools, processes, and practices worth knowing before starting with AI. They also discussed responsible use of AI and the EU’s AI Act. The workshop was free, and Postdoc Nicki Skafte Detlefsen taught the session. The companies were also divided into groups during the workshop to discuss various issues. The workshop was a collaboration between DTU - Technical University of Denmark | DTU Compute, AI Denmark, Erhvervshus Hovedstaden, and Erhvervshus Sjælland and Danmarks Erhvervsfremmebestyrelse. And co-financed by the European Union.
