Have you heard about Pioneer Centre for AI? It is located right in the middle of Copenhagen in the observatory of the botanical garden. It must be one of the most wonderful AI centres in Europe.
The first thing to know about the The Pioneer Centre for Artificial Intelligence is that it was Granted 47 million Euro (354 million Danish kroner) over 13 years (2021-2034). With additional funding from Novo Nordisk Foundation: Application Calls and Grants and Carlsberg Foundation.
Second, is that their director is kind, very thoughtful and exceptional. I met the Director of P1, Professor Serge Belongie at Nordic AI Meet back in 2021 where we invited him with the previous organisation I worked with and I drove him to the airport.
He was recruited to develop the proposal and lead the new Pioneer Centre for AI, Belongie, was previously the Andrew H. and Ann R. Tisch Professor of Computer Science at Cornell Tech, where he also served as Associate Dean. In addition to this, he was previously a member of the Visiting Faculty program at Google, serves on several boards, and has been involved in several successful start-ups. He known for his contributions to the fields of computer vision and machine learning, and moved the Belongie Lab to the Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, Department of Computer Science.

I also met a Norwegian PhD student visiting P1 working directly with Belongie, and his name is Sander Riisøen Jyhne. Check him out.
