We tried to stand out in the crowd at DHL Stafetten this year 🙋 Due to past difficulties spotting our colleagues in a sea of navy or black, we switched things up a little bit last Friday. So, for the first time, we sported pink! We always look forward to this day in August where we can get together, have fun, compete, and of course finish the day off with sushi. Everyone is welcome - from partner to intern, runner to supporter. See you again next year! 📸Oliver Pearson

It's brand new, and it's bright red. But is it also the best new school building in Denmark? DMJX has been nominated for School Building of the Year! Vote here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eHzZ85hP In early 2024, students and staff at Denmark's School of Media and Journalism (DMJX) moved into their new campus located in Ørestad, Copenhagen. PLH designed the building with an architectural concept inspired by today’s hectic media flow, which the students skillfully navigate. To learn more about the concept behind DMJX, visit the link above. The award is presented by Nohrcon Client: Danmarks Medie- og Journalisthøjskole Project team: 5E Byg A/S, INGENIØR'NE A/S & Dall & Lindhardtsen A/S 📸 Emil Lund Pedersen

Say goodbye to post-holiday office dread - here are 3️⃣ keys to designing a workplace people will look forward to: • Variation: We need it to thrive. By creating a variety of environments that people can choose from throughout the day, we can support well-being at work. • Acoustics: No-one can endure a noisy workplace for a whole day, but luckily even large, open areas can become refreshing, quiet spaces if we prioritize acoustics in the design and materials. • Room for focus and for talking: Sometimes you need a silent environment for focus work; other times you want to coordinate with your team. Making room for both is essential. 📸 Three of our own examples: 1. The blue café is a unique setting for informal meetings and breaks at Genmab in Copenhagen. (Photo: Peter Kam) 2. A large atrium welcomes employees and guests at DSV - Global Transport and Logistics in Hedehusene. The space is remarkably quiet thanks to the use of acoustic materials among other measures. (Photo: Mads Frederik) 3. Phone booths like this one provide bubbles of silence for focus work or meetings at A.P. Moller - Maersk in Copenhagen. (Photo: Tomas Berthelsen) What's important for you to thrive at work? #workplacedesign

What are these PLH’ers up to? 🌞 Meet our Life Science team, who recently completed an intensive course on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). GMP is a framework of regulations that ensures a high level of quality in the production of pharma products. As architects working in life science, it shapes everything we do, because it defines the standards our solutions must meet and guides our work at every step. And, as workplace designers, we can never know enough about the factors that influence people’s workdays. Kudos to our colleagues here who continue to drive us forward as leaders in life science workplace design. Also a big thanks to educator Mette Maria Juul Sørensen of Pharmakon - kurser til life science who we had the pleasure of hosting.

Looking to do some shopping in Copenhagen over the summer? 🌞 Then Amager Centret is a must. In our transformation of the shopping center, we wanted to create a welcoming and modern shopping destination that nonetheless brings out the site’s proud history. The building dates back to 1940 where it functioned as a ropewalk. In 1975 it was turned into a shopping center and the original façade was eventually closed off and covered in various ornaments. As a main part of the makeover, we restored the original façade and adapted it to accommodate the experiences it offers inside. Thus, white walls and contrasting dark window frames bring out the functionalist factory look, while large glass sections and spacious entrance areas turn the previously introvert shopping center into an open, inviting mall in harmony with the surrounding area. 📸 Kontraframe
