🌍🛰 GMV at Copernicus4Schools – Inspiring the Next Generation of Earth Observers! We participated in Copernicus 4Schools—The Great Disaster Challenge, a European educational initiative that teaches students how to detect natural disasters using satellite imagery. The event was at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento (Lisbon) and gathered students and teachers across Portugal. Around 400 students were involved in this activity, where they learned to analyze real satellite data to understand how floods develop and how to respond effectively. As part of the #FPCUP programme ( https://lnkd.in/dvM7aKe ) and organized in Portugal in partnership with the Agência Espacial Portuguesa and Ciência Viva, the challenge brought together middle and high school students to work hands-on with space data. 💡 GMV was one of the participating organizations, offering a session to help students understand how satellite technology supports disaster monitoring and emergency response. Students were tasked with tracking the evolution of a flood over time to identify vulnerable zones and recommend the most suitable emergency services. 🌐 The event took place simultaneously in several countries, and at the end of the day, students from all over Europe connected online to discuss their results and share conclusions.
