Knowing that 34% of global emissions come from what we eat and that 70% of food emissions stem from land use and agricultural production, it’s clear that what you eat matters more than where it comes from. Younger generations, in particular, are increasingly conscious of the need to choose foods that are better for the planet. This is why we were excited to attend an amazing event last week, organised by TUCO Ltd, the leading professional membership body for in-house caterers operating in the higher education sector in the UK. Hosted by the University of Exeter, this event brought together many innovative companies, including Notpla, Tea Joy, Tiffin Sandwiches, Bidfood UK, Speciality Breads Ltd , The THE REAL WRAP CO. LTD, AROUND NOON., Brakes UK, and Fresh Food For Now Company. The conference was a huge success, we were never left hungry or bored with high-level meals and never ending entertainment. It concluded with a beautiful gala dinner by award-winning chef Richard Narramore, created with the planet in mind. The stories of athletes who harness the power of #plantbased nutrition to reach new heights always inspire us at NOVAMEAT. On the first day of the Paris Olympic Games, British plant-based cyclist Anna Henderson won the silver medal at the time trial. In previous interviews, she had credited he diet for boosting performance and recovery. “I feel no difference, I feel better. I'm faster, I'm a bit leaner and I love it.” - Anna told cycling magazine Rouleur. "I think riders are scared that it will be really hard, but in my opinion, I've been totally fine and it's been a really good experience.” It has been proven by many athletes and #sportsnutrition experts that there are significant benefits from a plant-based diet: ✅ It's a leaner protein source, providing the same amount of protein with less fat compared to animal meat. ✅ It helps achieving faster recovery times and enhanced endurance. ✅ It improves overall health and reduces inflammation. 📣 "I'm a meat eater and you have blown me away today”. - A hungry soldier. Our UK team were recently invited to a British Army base to feed the troops and enlighten them with our healthier #meatalternatives. The Health & Wellness event was supported by Sodexo, who invited us to be a part of their special day. Did you know that active soldiers need as much as 5,000 calories to keep them going? 🏃 But of course, these calories need to be nourishing to boost their #health and #performance. At NOVAMEAT we have always designed our products with the body in mind, so it was a match made in heaven for our high protein, allergen-free portfolio of yellow pea-powered products. Here are the main takeaways from the event with the British troops: ✅ They couldn't tell the difference and were shocked to hear that we were plant-powered. ✅ They loved that we are high in protein and fibre and low in fat and salt. ✅ They were thrilled to hear that we are completely allergen-free. ✅ They came back not for 2nd or 3rd, but sometimes 4th helpings! Our tasting was followed by yoga, mindfulness and a meditation session in the barrack gardens, which was such a spot-on way to end the day. A huge thank you to our favourite chef (you know who you are) and to the rest of the Sodexo team for such a warm welcome, loving support and very fun day. Setting our foot in the historic town of Coventry in the best way possible: NOVAMEAT is now being served at a traditional British pub and we couldn't have gotten better feedback from the owner and chef: "People are loving #NOVAMEAT here at the Town Crier. Out of a table of 20 non-vegan diners, 7 chose dishes featuring Novameat instead of our meat options, and all said it was a hit!" 🎉 It’s a milestone for us as we step beyond the London scene and introduce our #plantbasedmeat to new audiences.
