Este hito marca un importante paso en nuestro compromiso por regenerar la biodiversidad marina y crear soluciones innovadoras para la sostenibilidad en entornos marinos. 🌊 Gracias al increíble apoyo y colaboración del Club Vela Blanes, hemos podido avanzar en la restauración de ecosistemas marinos, contribuyendo a la salud del entorno marino y ofreciendo resultados medibles. 📹🪸 Nueva cámara en tiempo real en el microarrecife de la bocana Ya es posible observar en directo el microarrecife situado en la bocana de Marina Palamós, gracias a la instalación de una webcam en colaboración con Ocean Ecostructures y SARTI-UPC OBSEA Observatory. Esta cámara permite seguir el material innovador desarrollado por SEASLAG, un proyecto que investiga nuevos materiales para la regeneración marina a partir de subproductos de las industrias siderúrgica y agroalimentaria. A través de la valorización de residuos como la escoria blanca, las conchas de bivalvos y las cáscaras de huevo, SEASLAG busca crear estructuras que favorezcan la recuperación de los ecosistemas marinos. Para medir su impacto, se analiza la colonización de biodiversidad en las estructuras sumergidas en Marina Palamós. Port de Barcelona has launched the #RegenPorts initiative, a pioneering project aimed at regenerating marine biodiversity with the advanced technology of Ocean Ecostructures (OE). Led by Fundación BCN Port Innovation, this initiative is a groundbreaking step forward in promoting sustainability in port environments. This project is a powerful example of renaturalization opportunities, that brings together science, technology, and the business sector, powered by OE’s cutting edge technology . By integrating the most advanced regenerative technology with digital systems, AI and robotics, we are providing accurate, reliable and valuable data into the regeneration process. The measurable results speak for themselves: a doubling of species richness, a 75% increase in biomass, and 230 kg of CO₂ captured. Our solution aligns with the three core ESG pillars: - Environmental Impact: Actively restoring marine ecosystems and reducing CO₂ emissions. - Social Responsibility: Ensuring the sustainability of the environment for future generations. - Governance & Innovation: Utilizing cutting-edge technology for transparent and actionable results. 🌊 Great progress at the recent #ConsortiumMeeting for the TRANSEATION Project! 🌍 It’s exciting to see how our collaborative efforts are shaping the future of resilient coastal and offshore infrastructures. As part of the Risk Assessment Workshop, we systematically identified hazards, vulnerabilities, and responses for key projects, including the Offshore Wind Farm (SAITEC). This is a critical step in understanding the complex interactions between environmental factors and infrastructure resilience. It’s inspiring to see the integration of Ecosystem-Based Management (EBM) principles in these assessments. By focusing on sustainable and adaptive solutions, we are creating frameworks that will not only strengthen coastal and marine infrastructures but also contribute to a more sustainable future. The combined expertise from partners like CMCC Foundation - Centro Euro Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici, DTU Aqua, Leibniz-Institut für Ostseeforschung Warnemünde and others is invaluable in developing actionable strategies that will make a real difference for both the environment and the communities who depend on these infrastructures.
