ICEYE’s constellation of #SAR satellites can observe and detect changes at the ocean surface day and night, through fog, clouds, and storms. This advanced technology enables tracking of glacial and sea ice melt, monitoring oil spills, detecting illegal fishing activities, and assessing the impact of natural catastrophes on coastal areas. Learn more about SAR and its support for communities from Dr. Shay Strong in an ICEYE film produced for us by BBC StoryWorks – https://hubs.li/Q02JlsnW0. #BlueHorizons

Last week, Typhoon Gaemi caused catastrophic flooding in Taiwan and the Philippines. It brought over 1000 mm of rainfall to some parts of Taiwan and intensified seasonal monsoon rains in the Philippines. Our #flood team has been monitoring the event and has produced three flood extent and depth analysis reports, mapping more than 580 sq km of flooding in Taiwan. Earlier in July, Hurricane Beryl made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane in Texas, causing flooding along much of the coast and around Galveston Bay. Our observed flood extent and depth data show that more than 4,800 buildings have been affected in the Houston Metropolitan Area and coastal Texas. Discover how our GIS-compatible insights can help you see through the chaos and target your emergency response efforts.
