We have launched our CIGRE D2 2023/2024 Global Telecommunications Survey for Power Utilities! This is an update to our 2020 Global Telecommunications Survey for Power Utilities. If you work anywhere in the electric power supply chain - transmission utility, distribution utility, generation, consultancy, equipment manufacturer, and academia - we'd like to hear from you! Through this survey, our Study Committee aims to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current state and plans of power utilities and market participants in telecommunications. The results of this survey will be published in the CIGRE 2024 Paris Session. The results will also be available to those who have completed the survey. Thank you for participating. Study Committee D2 is delighted to share the approved ToR D2.59 "Intelligent Computing for Power Industry". Intelligent computing has advanced the electric power industry by enhancing efficiency, reliability, and sustainability. Data is the new Gold and this is made possible by Artificial Intelligence (AI). The purpose of the Working Group (WG) is to establish a reference document on intelligent computing for power industry, achieving consensus on cutting-edge technologies among power industry enterprises and institutions (power utilities, generation companies, independent system operators, load aggregators, etc.) The Call for Members is looking to attract Experts from around the world to have an input on this WG. SC D2 wants more Next Generation Network (NGN) and Women in Energy (WiE) to participate on this WG. See below the link to join the WG: https://lnkd.in/dpCJe3DG Please send the proposed WG member names and CVs to the convenor, Mr. Kunlun Gao , contact the SC D2 Chair Victor Tan and SC D2 Secretary Marcelo Araujo. Alternatively, contact the National Committee Representatives or send DM to this page. We ask you to send this information by 13 September 2024.

As the 2024 Paris Session comes to a close, we reflect on an unforgettable experience filled with diverse perspectives and meaningful dialogue. This year's congress brought together participants from over 120 countries, demonstrating the global commitment to addressing the energy transition at this crucial time for humanity. With nearly 1,200 papers presented and extensive involvement from major players across the industry, the discussions were deep, insightful, and truly inspiring. Our record attendance shows that we all recognize the challenges ahead, and we leave this session more informed and better connected than ever before. CIGRE continues to unite people in a truly unique way, and the energy and atmosphere this year were absolutely electric. We look forward to seeing you all again in 2026 and collaborating with our global community to advance power system expertise and achieve sustainable electricity for all. Thank you, and safe travels home! #CIGRE2024 #2024PARISSESSION #EnergyTransition #SustainableFuture #GlobalCommunity #ElectricityForAll

Survey on CIM (Common Information Model) Methodology The CIGRE Study Committee D2 Working Group D2.57 studies the latest experience and best practices for applying, extending, and developing Common Information Model standards (IEC 61970, IEC 61968).   As part of the study, D2.57 has prepared two surveys. If you are involved in the planning, development and implementation of the CIM standards, we would like your input in our surveys. The deadline to participate is 10 August. 1. For ISO, TSO, DSO and other utility companies, the survey to respond to is on this link: https://lnkd.in/gU3DyaE8. 2. For vendors engaged in the development and support of CIM-compatible applications and systems, please respond to this survey: https://lnkd.in/gNCUKsKF.   The questionnaire's purpose is to gather information on the current status of CIM usage, common model extensions, and the trends for CIM development.    More information about D2.57 you can find on the CIGRE website: https://lnkd.in/gr6mE4M8 For further details on this survey or the activities of the Working Group, please reach out to the Convenor of WG D2.57,  Roman Bogomolov (bogomolov.roman.a@gmail.com).

TB 936 - Enhanced Information and Data Exchange to Enable Future TSO-DSO Coordination and Interoperability is available on E-CIGRE! As a result of JWG D2/C2.48, the TB 936 has been published and can be download for free by CIGRE members in the following link: https://lnkd.in/dkyAnTXt Thanks for Gareth Taylor (convenor) and Eric Lambert (secretary) for coordinating the production of this TB. Also, thanks for all professionals involved in this technical contribution for the electric power sector. Summary: Future coordination and interaction of transmission and distribution operation, planning and development will need to be extended, modified, revised and integrated with regard to different information and data communication technologies. Whole system information and data exchange management and schemes will be required that considers overall power system security, flexibility requirements, stability, resiliency and affordability. By way of example, appropriately detailed representation of distribution systems as required in operational procedures for transmission systems need to be specified. However, such representations will be constrained by computationally demanding processes, intensive information and data management, data confidentiality and cybersecurity issues at both distribution and transmission system operator levels. Therefore, enhanced Information systems and data exchange is now essential with regard to enabling the required levels of future transmission and distribution system interoperability, interaction and coordination.
