Revolutionizing ocean conservation to save the reef, through restoration efforts, awareness, and innovation & science.
À propos
Coral Gardeners started in 2017 on Mo’orea, the sister island of Tahiti in French Polynesia after a small group of young surfers, freedivers, and fishermen noticed the heartbreaking degradation of their home reef. In less than 3 years, the small group of island kids grew to an international collective of scientists, engineers, creators, and advocates determined to save the reef by revolutionizing ocean conservation and generating collaborative action around the world. WE ARE CREATING A WORLD IN WHICH CORAL REEFS WOULD NO LONGER NEED US.

Our teams have been exchanging knowledge between branches, from discoveries of resilient coral genres to insights from field data to special tips on restoration methods. Each of our sites around the world presents diverse ocean conditions and environmental parameters, allowing us to perfect our craft. Special thanks to our partner Air Tahiti Nui for supporting our mission and helping us expand our project into new regions. Welcome to one of our most epic nursery sites in Fiji. Our Vakeleciri nursery in Fiji is located right inside a reef patch in the middle of the ocean. This oasis of marine life is the perfect spot to grow our baby corals that will benefit from this protected environment. Once mature, these corals will be outplanted on degraded reefs of the outer area to help revive them. Outplant season has officially started in French Polynesia. It’s now time to harvest the corals our team nurtured for years to plant them onto the reef and help restore the ecosystem. As our gardeners are carefully moving the corals from our nurseries to the reef, their entourage of fish are following along, directly enhancing biodiversity and abundance in the ocean. Now that the mass bleaching has finally come to a halt in the South Pacific, our team has put together a notice to reflect on this event and share insights from the data we collected. If anything, this event has reinforced our commitment to our mission to ensure the resilience of coral reefs in the face of our warming climate. Thank you for being part of our journey. We just can’t get over the corals of Fiji. 🪸 Home to the third-largest barrier reef in the world, Fiji is surrounded by a beautiful and diverse group of corals coming in an array of shapes and colors. Despite their vitality to our planet, coral reefs are highly vulnerable and deserve protection.
