#FintechDurable"

At Descartes Underwriting, we believe that the best way to address environmental, social, and governance (#ESG) challenges is to start with ourselves. That’s why we proudly support our internal ESG task force, an initiative born from the spontaneous commitment of passionate employees from all departments. They actively drive meaningful change and regularly collaborate with our leadership, who amplify and support their projects. Together, they focus on three key areas: 🤝Social impact 🌍Environmental initiatives 📈 Responsible governance Last week’s conference, organized by the task force, is part of this broader effort. Congratulations to the entire task force for their dedication and energy! #Sustainability #Collaboration #Climate #Resilience
🌍 Exploring Meteorology’s Role in Building a Sustainable Future 🌍 Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Philippe Drobinski at our first internal ESG mini-conference, “Exploring Meteorology's Role in Building a Sustainable Tomorrow.” Philippe shared invaluable insights from his research on the Mediterranean climate, offering his perspectives on climate policies, the critical role of interdisciplinary collaboration in sustainability, and the importance of renewable energy in driving the "Energy Transformation"—a more fitting term, in his view - for addressing climate change. He emphasized how meteorology plays a key role in raising awareness and stressed the urgency of turning that awareness into concrete action. He left us with two key actions to take: reducing our consumption and deploying the existing mature technologies without waiting for a hypothetical perfect solution, targeting the most critical yet polluting sectors. This event was a reminder that while the path forward is challenging, we have the tools to start making a difference today. A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped organize this event, specially Charlotte Rougier, Rita B., Mercedes Velasco and the rest of the ESG Task Force! 💡 Descartes Underwriting École Polytechnique Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique - IPSL

Today, Generali and UNDP launched a joint report “Parametric insurance to build financial resilience”, aimed at supporting the most vulnerable communities around the world and addressing the growing financial protection gap. This work demonstrates how parametric insurance can support governments, businesses and communities to financially prepare for increasingly frequent and severe natural hazards, from drought, extreme heat and tropical cyclones to storm surges, earthquakes and other shocks. Different case studies enhance the understanding of how parametric policies work, as well as their role in protecting people and assets in the event of hazards and shocks.
