🎉 Our member ISL, celebrating 25 years of network access control! A month ago, the ISL Internet Sicherheitslösungen GmbH team gathered at its headquarters to commemorate 25 years of securing IT perimeters across Europe. Since its inception, ISL has been dedicated to ensuring data sovereignty and providing seamless network access control solutions. Since joining the DTS IT AG family in 2019, they have expanded their presence across Europe, working closely with partners in the DACH region, France and Italy. Its flagship solution, ARP-GUARD, is a key enabler of Zero Trusted Network Access (ZTNA), securing both on-site and remote employees. They are also proud to introduce CLIENT-GUARD, which enables system administrators to better control remote devices, automate processes and strengthen network security. 🛡️ 25 years of innovation and growth, and many more to come! 🗣The incredible workshops at this year’s Deeptech Forum covered, among many topics, European sovereign in cybersecurity. What needs to happen to bolster Europe's growth in the cybersecurity sector? Here are a few of our key insights: 💬 Many of our cybersecurity workshop keynote speakers shared the vision outlined in Mario Draghi’s recent report on the future of European competitiveness. In Europe, we don’t lack ideas or ambition. But “we are failing to translate innovation into commercialization”. ▶️ Companies are hindered at every stage by inconsistent cross-border regulations, and financing from US venture capitalists is both more attractive to seek and easier to attain. ▶️ The good news: we already have a shared understanding of the challenges and an optimism about the opportunities that lie ahead for building a stronger European cybersecurity ecosystem. ▶️ By focusing on scalability, integration, and fostering cross-European initiatives, the continent's cybersecurity firms can build a more robust presence on the global stage ▶️ Enhancing public-private collaboration, and embracing a more integrated market approach, could strengthen innovation and the value of European cybersecurity companies. ▶️ Similarly to all deeptech sectors: the path forward for European cybersecurity = overcoming cultural barriers. Our speaker, Cody Barrow, representing EclecticIQ, offered a unique perspective as the only American on the panel. Alongside Dimitri van Esch of Quantum Gateway Foundation, Olivier Blazy of the École Polytechnique, Octavia de Weerdt of Stichting NBIP, Mark van Staalduinen of CFLW Cyber Strategies, Harold Weffers, EngD of the Eindhoven University of Technology and under the moderation of Dominique TESSIER, they explored challenges around financing, regulation, and public-private collaboration. While Europe is aiming to match the US in terms of innovation, we should aim to overtake the US in terms of innovation. 👇 You want to support the ECA? As we are reflecting on the Deepetch Forum on the 26th, we are also reflecting upon the many scale-up-growth- and European sovereignty-related learnings we took away from the Amsterdam European Deeptech Forum 2024! 🎙part of the diverse panel on keeping scale up’s European as they grow, moderator Sarah Jane Mellor guided the discussion expertly, stating clearly how important it is to connect the high-tech-ecosystem across the Netherlands, France and all over Europe So what were our key insights? ✅ In the Netherlands and France, funding for scale-ups exists, they have to have a good product and marketing to get it. ✅ Key for that is creating a product that exactly overlaps with consumers’ needs, and in tech, the biggest customers are often government bodies. ✅ Investors are also on the lookout for rising stars in the business: You might just need to find the right one for your product. ✅ However, capital in the EU flows more slowly compared to the US, and big customers are careful before making final decisions. ✅ Scale-ups in the US receive more aid from experienced advisors who already have scaled up one or multiple companies. In Europe, we clearly require more connectivity between such advisors, who have experience scaling up in Europe, and rising tech stars. ✅ We have no blueprint, how a successful European scale-up works. There is simply no real example that can be analyzed systematically. ✅ And finally, Europe ≠ 1 country …cultures, languages and rules make it hard to scale up across European borders. Thanks, Sarah jane for asking just the right questions and moderating the panel and to Frits Grotenhuis from Topsector ICT Delphine Bos from French Tech Amsterdam, Eddy Boot from dcypher, Emmarique Delahaije from KPN Ventures, Reinout vander Meulen from TIN Capital | European Cybersecurity Investors and Sylvie Matz from Falco Global Partners for offering their expertise on the matter! ↪️ If you want to support the ECA and our future events, become a member of the ECA at the link in comment #event #european #innovation #networking #europe #techecosystem

📅 The recent European Deeptech forum was a real source of inspiration. We were able to see new connections made and old ones re-established. (We may even have already planned our next event...)! 💡 Public and private players came together to envision a realistic future for Europe's technology ecosystem. We spent a lot of time discussing strategies for closing the scaling gap, maintaining the lead in quantum computing and navigating the global market for cybersecurity solutions. We also shared some of the actions our members are already taking, alone or together, to break through imaginary boundaries! 🚀 Last week's event was an incredible reminder of the power of collaboration, and that these collaborations already exist. Listening to our speakers, we're optimistic: the foundations of a strong European technology market are already being laid by people in post, experts with practical experience. What we need now are more people who know technology and are in decision-making positions. After all that work, we ended the evening with a toast and getting to know each other even better.
