The UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP-UNESCO) supports countries in effectively planning and managing their education systems. IIEP’s integrated approach to capacity development combines training in educational planning and management, research and knowledge sharing, and in-country capacity cooperation for educational bodies. All of these components build on each other and are core components for making fundamental changes when building better education systems around the world. IIEP-UNESCO has five thematic priority areas that cover social inequalities, and especially gender equality, improved learning outcomes, enhanced education system resilience, improved governance and accountability, and sustainable education financing. IIEP believes that strong educational planning and efficient management can both visionary and pragmatic. It is also the path towards implementing education reforms and system transformation that will ensure equal learning opportunities for all children and youth, no matter where they are or in what setting. IIEP is part of UNESCO and enjoys a large degree of intellectual and functional autonomy. This allows it to adapt quickly to emerging needs and to innovate in areas which help ministries to plan and manage education services.

¡Culminamos con éxito el Foro Regional de Política Educativa 2024! ✨👏 Durante ambas jornadas organizadas por el IIPE UNESCO América Latina y el Caribe, con el apoyo de OEI Argentina y ECLAC, líderes y especialistas de toda la región compartieron sus perspectivas sobre el planeamiento educativo. “Hay que tratar de superar la tensión entre la planificación y la emergencia. Si bien ciertamente la planificación implica una mirada de largo plazo, esa mirada debe tener de manera muy clara y muy bien identificada cómo se está respondiendo a la emergencia cotidianamente y cómo esa respuesta también puede formar parte del proceso de planificación de largo plazo” planteó el Director del International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP-UNESCO), Martín Benavides. Por su parte, la Jefa de Oficina a.i. del IIPE UNESCO América Latina y el Caribe, Alejandra Cardini, cerró la jornada asegurando que este Foro “es muy importante para nosotros porque vuelve a poner en discusión un tema central como es el de la planificación. Se trata de una invitación a planificar el futuro de la educación, a pensar juntos cómo planificar en los próximos años.
