Meridiam and STRABAG have commissioned the new A49 motorway in Hesse, Germany, a 30-year concession project which required around €1 billion investment. This 61km motorway, with 31km newly built, enhances connectivity between Kassel and Frankfurt, boosting local economic and social development. The project includes significant environmental measures, such as creating biotopes and converting 320 hectares into natural forests and meadows. High fences and green bridges ensure the safety of wildlife. The construction also focused on sustainability, recycling 2.6 million m³ of materials and using synthetic membranes in water protection zones. Additional initiatives were implemented to reduce dust and optimize local traffic flows. ESG in private capital – a regulatory shift   Transparency is at the heart of ESG progress in private capital.   Invest Europe’s latest ESG KPI Report shows that 84% of 2023 vintage funds from managers subject to SFDR rules are classified as Article 8 or 9 – meaning ESG is central to their investment strategy.
