NanoXplore is happy to announce that for the first time, an AI implementation ran on one of our components! It’s a significant milestone as AI is in the forefront of research and development, and even industries in the space community show a keen interest in its applications onboard satellites. It’s all thanks to the hard work of the Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Informazione - Università di Pisa (Department of Information Engineering), which developed its own AI framework, aptly named FPG-AI, and used it to generate a LeNet5 Neural Network hardware prototype trained on MNIST dataset. This neural network accelerator was able to run on a proper NG-ULTRA, and the testing phase was a resounding success. After the last few years of creating innovative, reliable and rad-hard FPGAs, NanoXplore is so proud to see them used in interesting and useful projects. This year alone, our technology is used to run AI networks, it has reached the Moon, has been circling in orbit around the Earth, and this is only the first half of 2024. The latest release of Impulse is now widely available! As our latest product, Ultra 300, is finally getting in the hands of our clients, it is also easily available and supported by Impulse. For the second time this month, our NG-MEDIUM has reached space! Four days ago, on the 22nd of June, our component left on his way to the Earth orbit, 600km from the ground, aboard the French Chinese satellite SVOM (Space Variable Objects Monitor). Developed by the China National Space Administration (CNSA) and the French Space Agency Centre National d'Études Spatiales, its main goal will be to measure Gamma-ray bursts, the most powerful class of explosions in the universe. Used in the ECLAIRs, a wide-field X-ray and gamma-ray camera, our NG-MEDIUM is our first space qualified rad-hard FPGA used in many space missions. The component development was supported by Centre National d'Études Spatiales, European Space Agency - ESA and the European Commission and has been Space Qualified in 2021. NG-MEDIUM as well as all our products are assembled through STMicroelectronics sovereign supply chain. So far, the X-ray telescope satellite successfully launched and deployed its solar panel, and the scientific equipment is awaiting start-up. On Tuesday, June 3rd, 2024, the collecting module of the Chinese Chang'e 6 mission left the Moon, leaving behind our NG-MEDIUM embedded in the DORN equipment. This French instrument is tasked with measuring radon emission and is a key information in our understanding of the Moon inner workings. As a part of the FUSIO RT, produced by 3D PLUS, NG-MEDIUM can thus contribute to a great scientific endeavor. It is a great achievement for NanoXplore, as we are very proud to reach the confines of space with our Radiation Hardened components. NG-MEDIUM is our first space qualified rad-hard FPGA used in many space missions. The component development was supported by CNES, European Space Agency - ESA and the European Union and has been Space Qualified in 2021.
