This mission is a collaboration between Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) and ASTech, a French innovation cluster. Aim of the mission is to increase and strengthen the collaboration with the French ecosystem. ⏮️ Throwback | Quantum Night At our embassy, the Innovation 💡 Department collaborates closely with Dutch and French innovation clusters to promote bilateral and European partnerships. A good example of this is the collaboration in the field of quantum technology ⚛️. With this key technology we are on the eve of a technological revolution that can contribute to solutions for all kinds of major societal challenges, including healthcare, energy transition, secure communication and researching new materials   Both The Netherlands 🇳🇱 and France 🇫🇷 recognize the strategic importance of quantum technology and have launched joint initiatives to advance research, development and innovation in this field. We were so thrilled to host Airbus and the NAG Advancing your Aerospace and Airport Business (Netherlands Aerospace Group) at our embassy in Berlin! The NAG and Airbus have an incredible Memorandum of Understanding in place with the objective of establishing a long-term strategic relationship in the field of sustainable aviation research and innovation. With the ILA Berlin - Pioneering Aerospace taking place in Berlin, we seized the opportunity to have the regular Board Meeting to discuss the cooperation and the next steps. We were also delighted to welcome a delegation from the city of Bremen and the province of South Holland to discuss the potential of a R&D project to further connect the two regions on the topic of aviation. Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate's deputy director for competition and consumer policy Geert Moelker and his team to Paris. The delegation met with their counterparts at the Ministère de l’Économie, des Finances et de la Souveraineté industrielle et numérique to look back on what 🇫🇷France and the Netherlands🇳🇱 have achieved together over the past few years in creating the Digital Markets Act (hashtag #DMA) 🤖. The delegation learned more about the intensive cooperation between Autorité de la concurrence and the Ministry's Directorate-General dealing with #EUcompetitionpolicy and consumer rights. The delegation also looked ahead to future challenges, which include timely and effective implementation of the Digital Markets Act and developments in the field of #AI. Our esteemed Ambassador, Jan Versteeg, embarked last week on a fruitful regional visit to Bordeaux, strengthening the ties between the Netherlands and the Nouvelle Aquitaine region. During his visit, His Excellency had the pleasure of engaging with key regional leaders and organisations 👇 🔸 Met with Alain Rousset, President of the Regional Council of Nouvelle Aquitaine, discussing opportunities for collaboration and innovation 💡. 🔸 Held insightful discussions with Etienne GUYOT, Prefect of the Nouvelle Aquitaine region, and his Diplomatic Advisor, Dominique Delpuech, on regional development and cooperation. 🔸 Explored cutting-edge technological advancements at the deep tech cluster Alpha RLH Photonics-Lasers and Microwaves-Electronics Hub with its director Hervé Floch and team, discussed quantum collaboration ⚛️ at NAQUIDIS Center with Philippe Bouyer, and connected with Exosens, a global manufacturer of optoelectronics components with a presence in the Netherlands (Roden). 🔸 Enjoyed a lunch with representatives from the City and Metropolis of Bordeaux (Bordeaux Métropole), including Deputy Mayor Didier JEANJEAN ⏚, to discuss how major cities are addressing climate change 🌩️ and the necessary greening of mobility, energy, urban planning, and housing ♻️. 🔸 Visited the Dutch-owned Château Gort & Gort vineyard 🍇, run by the renowned Ilja Gort and his family. During this visit, Ambassador Versteeg honored our dedicated Honorary Consul in Nouvelle Aquitaine, Radinck Jan van Vollenhoven, who is stepping down after 9 years of loyal service, with a badge of honor 🎖️ for his exceptional volunteer work. We are pleased to announce that his successor, Ellemarije Altena, Associate Professor at Université de Bordeaux for the past 10 years, will soon continue to build on this legacy. 🔸 Engaged with Dutch scientists in the #Bordeaux region, including students and researchers, fostering academic and scientific exchanges 👩🔬. 🔸 Hosted a productive breakfast meeting with Dutch entrepreneurs and employees in the Bordeaux area, discussing business opportunities and community building. 🎉 PACT FOR INNOVATION & SUSTAINABLE GROWTH - UPDATE We are excited to announce the successful kickoff of the inaugural meeting of the 🇫🇷Franco-Dutch🇳🇱 Sustainable Transport Working Group, hosted by the Dutch Ambassador, H.E. Jan Versteeg, in Paris, and chaired by Sébastien Justum from Air France-KLM. As part of the Innovation Pact for Sustainable Growth, this initiative aims to strengthen Franco-Dutch ties through pioneering work in #Aviation and #Rail. Representatives from the public and private sectors, as well as research institutes, gathered to discuss strategic ways to enhance our collaborative efforts 🤝. 🚅 The Rail group focused on identifying actionable steps to address industry challenges such as energy storage, skill development, and sustainable intramodality. ✈️ The Aviation group concentrated on the decarbonisation of the sector and securing investments to develop Sustainable Aviation Fuels. 🌟 The productive discussions and ambitious goals set during this meeting will lead to new initiatives later this year.
