| Bringing Vision Care to Schools in Arunachal Pradesh |
Today, the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and the BroadArks Foundation to implement a comprehensive school eye health program across government schools in the state.
The initiative is modelled on the successful 'Vision for All' program in Goa, where annual vision screenings in schools are now mandated by the government. Arunachal Pradesh is adopting the same approach, placing vision care at the heart of school health reform.
From June 2025, the program will provide free vision screenings and prescription eyeglasses to primary and secondary school students. It will also support teacher training, awareness-raising in schools and communities, and the integration of vision screenings into the academic calendar to ensure long-term adoption.
“We believe that good vision is not a luxury. It is a basic right. This partnership strengthens our resolve to integrate health into education, ensuring every child in Arunachal Pradesh sees clearly, learns fully, and lives with dignity," said Shri Pasang Dorjee Sona, Hon'ble Education Minister, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
This collaboration underscores the role of vision care as a critical enabler of learning, participation, and long-term opportunity for every child, and we look forward to supporting the Government of Arunachal Pradesh in bringing this vision to life.
